Seeing Bekele standing next to Sanya Richards being awarded the Golden League Jackpot made me wonder: Could Bekele beat Richards in a 400?

Any thoughts? Right now, I'd pick Richards but I think it would be close.
Dude Bekele cam run a 53 last 400m in a 10k. Are you retarded or what?
KB - 48.7
Richards - 48.8

Last week the announcers said that Bekele (or his coach/manager?) confirmed a max of 49 for 400m.

Classic letsrun post. Being able to kick 53 at the end of a tactical race doesn't mean he can run more than 4 seconds faster in the open 400. Plus, Bekele has incredible endurance so I would bet the his 400 would be slower compared to his distance times than the most elite runners.
Better question: Who wins a 5000m?

-10/10.

If you gave Sanya a mile head start then she might win.
I doubt Sanya could run faster than 13 mins for 2.1 miles, actually.

Correct. And most likely 49.9 like Geb (ask his agent). There's a reason why people like Bekele are long distance runners.
In a 400 race with Richards and Felix, Bekele likely finishes third, which would likely put an end to all of this discussion about how fast Bekele--or any long distance runners is. If he can't beat Sanya Richards, he shouldn't even think about Bolt.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think anyone thinks he can beat Bolt in a 400 or even 500. But when it gets to 600 it'll get interesting.
That's strange that Bekele mentioned that his best 100m is 11.0 seconds. I'd say that's "terrible endurance" if his best 400m is, in fact, 49.
KB would have a hard time cracking 50, despite his fast finishes in races. You guys have no idea what you're talking about.

no, he didn't... reading comprehension, my friend.
The drugs that Bekele and Richards are taking produce different results so their strengths don't match up.
How about this, how fast do you think Bekele would run 5k if he had Isinbayeva and Richards waiting at the finish line to f*** his brains out.

I asked Geb's agent and he said you're an idiot.
Didn't Bekele run a 3:32 1500m. Doesn't that require at least 48 speed?

No if you're a 26:17 10000m runner.
