I'm in the midst of training for the Chicago Marathon. Target is sub-2:55. I'm doing a tune-up 10 mile race on Monday (Labor Day). I'm wondering what sort of time/pace I should shoot for.
Some quirks:
1.) The race is at 5300-5400 feet. My general experience is that the altitude slows me down about 25 seconds per mile over a 10 mile/half marathon distance.
2.) I'll be training through -- I have a 20+ miler on Saturday, then a shakeout on Sunday. So I definitely won't be fresh.
3.) The course is about a net 150 feet uphill, but it's pretty gradual -- I definitely wouldn't call it a hilly course.
My initial instinct is to try to go right at sea level marathon pace (6:40), but suggestions are welcome.
