I would bet he runs between 52 and 53.
I remember reading somewhere that he ran 51.
If he ran 1:51 in high school, this does not seem unreasonable.
If he ran 1:51 he was probably capable of 50-low.

NO. I say 51flat at best. He ran 3:42 for 1500m and clearly came from the endurance side, so 1:51-1:52 and 51-52 make sense.

That's probably true. The only HS guys I knew that ran 1:51 were 400/800 guys that could easily break 50. I never knew anyone with 3:42 ability.
I know nothing about Hall but guessing sprint times is a crap shoot. I doubt he is a sub 47 guy but if you told me anywhere from the mid 48s to 51 I would believe it. Some people can have speed (fast 200/400m) and endurance (good 5/10k ratios and times) but struggle to run the middle distance times you would expect.

True. Derek Clayton was an example of this kind of runner. Ran the 400 in 52, marathon in 2:08, but was relatively slow at 5/10 k.
Agree 100% with the crap shoot analogy. I would also say that since Hall thought he was a miler in HS, he must have at least had enough foot speed to feed that delusion. For example, if he was running 54s over 400 and then dropping 3:43 1500s, I don't think he could have fooled himself into thinking his future was in the 15. So i think he probably could run around 50flat. But he has only been focusing on the marathon so I think were he to run one all out today it probably would be around 52.

You "doubt" he is a sub 47 guy?!? Don't go out on a limb or anything. How about this: I bet you a million $ he ain't CLOSE to 47 or ever has been?
If he was a 48.x open 400 guy, he would have stuck with lower distances and probably run a 3:45 mile by now. Webb was 47.x relay, guy, but probably no better than 48 flat open 400 guy when he ran 3:46, and Hall has much more endurance.

So Bekele can BARELY break 50 for the 400m but Hall can ran a 50 flat???

Thank you for your contribution to the thread
50. Bekele 48. Webb could split sub-47 in '07.
In one of his workouts preparing for Boston, he did an 8 mile tempo then 300m hill repeats in 42-43. He can probably run low 50, though I bet he has not run one all out in a long time.
Webb split 47 in high school.
Okay. We'll settle this. Bekele, Bolt, and Hall in a 400m race. Yeah!!
...and Webb!!!!
Webb FTW!!!!!

Hall, in his track days, would have been very close to Bekele in a 400m. Hall's PB is 50.5 from high school, and that's when he was doing weekly 400m speed work. He probably could have squeezed out a few tenths but not much more.
Bekele still has better endurance than Hall, particularly for aerobic power events.
