I think smiths a good coach and fully capable of doing a good job with this group, but if he doesnt win this year theres no one else to blame...
I see that Smith is coaching both the women's and men's teams this year.
It is strange the men are again not going to pre-nationals, a meet that Mick Byrne always takes his teams to and they end up exceeding expectations in the finals. I personally think that Smith's "avoid competition" all season approach was disastrous a year ago and hope he's not planning to do the same thing again. It was painful to see their lack of progress last fall.
Anyway good luck to the runners. I hope OSU does come up to their expectations this time around, especially for the sake of the runners.
Not sure how going to Chilipepper is avoiding competiton. Last I checked Arkansas and Alabama (which usually goes) are perennial contenders. They dont need points so Pre Nats is a waste of time for them.
