So I've been maturing as a runner through the years and I hit 100mpw recently. While my mileage has increased through the years, my pace has slowed somewhat. I'm in college, so my seasons aren't too long, so it's difficult for me to get used to my mileage (I reach higher mpw by overtraining while in base/phase 1). Last track season I got up to about 90 at my peak milage and my ave. pace was closer to 7. I later ran a sub-31 10k.
It's not as if I feel overtrained, but would I be training smarter if, for instance, I did say 80mpw at 6:45 ave?
At 100mpw, my ave. pace is about 7:15s now, I was just wondering how this compares to other runners in the 90+ range?
Does 7:15 pace mean I'm not ready for this mileage?
