Well, I think I was after the fact, but at the time, I couldn't help myself.

You were dump for playing Fantasy football in the first place.
"Dumb" may not be the right word. Risky, maybe. Afterall, it's difficult to predict how an athlete is going to perform, no matter how much stat analysis you do. For example, did DeAngelo Williams previously do anything to suggest that he would be the top fantasy back last year? No one could have predicted that with any degree of confidence. Clinton Portis is talented and has the potential to be a top six RB. He just needs to stay healthy, which is where the real risk comes in since he's hard to count on for a full season.
A guy in my fantasy league took Steve Slaton with the #7 overall pick. Then he took Jonathon Stewart in the second round. We were all like, "What?" But we can't give him too much shit for it because you just never know. He might have the last laugh and look like a genius by the end of the season.
He probably won't get many touches, so yeah I'd say bad call.
Fantasy Football is seriously maybe one of the most idiotic things ever.
You do realize you are playing with money you do not have, teams you do not own, players you do not coach, etc...
And yet you find it amusing to make "trades" and salary decisions which do not affect any aspect of anything.
You sir are one lame existance.
Won't get many touches? Do you even know who Portis is? He has the most touches in the last three years.

Yeah, but they are not planning on using him as their third down back this season. Also the receiving corps seems a bit improved and should be more of a major part of the offense. I really think Portis is going to have a less major part in the Skins offense this year.
Depends if Sellers and Cooley end up getting all of the TDs.
Redskins will have a good offense this year and Portis will get some nice redzone scores. Good pick up
You're posting on letsrun.com, and while I may be reading this, not many people will.
How many people play fantasy football? This argument can only end with you losing.
As for Portis at 6, the earlier poster nailed it. I would say it's not a bad pick at all, depending on who was left. If Steven Jackson was on the board, then maybe it wasnt the best idea, but I think Portis will do his work and get about 1,200 yrs this year and 8 tds.
6th is probably a little high - in my 14 team league 6th pick was DeAngelo followed by Slaton in 7th, Brees 8th, Moss 9th, LT 10th, Chris Johnson 11th, S Jax 12th, Brady 13th, Portis 14th.
It was a little high. If you were in a 10 team league, you might have been able to get him on the way back. I think he will have a good season and put up good points for you. I think the earlier poster's prediction of 1,200 yards and 8 touchdowns will be pretty accurate.
Clinton Portis
If you delete n, o, n, p, t it spells, well, you know.
Is that why?
Who would have been taken ahead of him?
All day
forte
turner
mjd
westbrook
deanglo
and that is just running backs. throw in larry and moss for wr. brady and manning for qb. ya bad pick

That's a bit low, IMO. With the exception of 2006, when he only started 7 games, he's never had fewer than 1260 rushing yards. He's usually good for about 1500 on the ground and another 250 through the air. In his seven years in the NFL, he's averaging nearly 100/game rushing, including last year with a very mediocre line (as always, with Washington).
I don't expect the OL to be great this year, either, but having a much improved defense (with Haynesworth, among others) should help with field position and TD production, and allow the team to rely on the ground game more than ever.
The real downside to using a top pick on him is that he's not much of a breakaway threat. I like to have an RB who can carry my whole team when he has a good week.
I had my 12 team draft last night, took MJD third and got Portis on the way back at the end of round 2. I couldn't believe he was still available for me. Sixth might be a little high though, there's good RB talent to be had this year in the later rounds.
