ok well if were going by that standard lets go through the active USA team (3-4 guys) based on PRs and accomplishments and if you are going to advocate for another team go through theres
800
KD-1:43 PR been in the low 1:44s last few years
Symmonds-1:43 guy, WC finalist
no one other clear favorite but a few low 1:45 guys
1500
Lagat-3:30-3:32ish guy right now, current world bronze medalist
Lomong-3:32, WC finalist
Manzano-3:34, WC finalist
Wild card-Webb 1:43, 3:30, 3:46 guy probably top 3 in the world as far as raw talent goes but too inconsistent to count for much
5000
Lagat-12:59-13:00 guy, huge kick, WC silver
Ritz-12:56 but not much footspeed so would bet on him in a championshoip race unless Bekele decided to string it out
Teg 13:04 guy, solid kick and a threat in tactical style races (only 8th at this WC though but 4th last time)
few other 13:10-13:15 guys in fam and solinsky
10000
Ritz-6th at WC in 27:22, 12:56 should put him poised for a big pr if he gets the chance
Rupp-27:30 guy, also looks good for a big pr but had a long year in the NCAA
Abdi 27:16 pr last year but had some injury troubles this year, could be out best guy if he comes back well (getting old though)
Id say that qualifies us for 3rd best, if you disagree...state why
and the 5000 list will look even better with German in there in 2012
