Good morning from the hot and humid shores of the Outer Banks. These past two weekends of storms off the coast have been great for surfers but way too humid for me. Bright, sunny, hot, humid days where you drip sweat just walking outside does not make for the best running scene I am counting the days till the weather breaks which may not be till late October.
While recovering from my achilles injury, one of the great lessons I have learned is what great benefit cross training offers us in terms of staying fit with less bang on the body. My cross training has consisted of spin classes at the Y and some free weights. This week was tough because of work related pressures { anybody else in sales with the last week of the month push?} and I didn't run as much as I wanted at a time when I really needed to be running because of the stress of work. I came out of the Spin class one night and looked at the treadmill and ended up running after the Spin class and felt fine. My fitness is increasing because a short time ago I could barley walk out of the gym after the spin class now I can do a short 30 minute run after 60 minutes of spin. I slept like a baby that night which was a switch. Bottom line I have to do a better job of making sure I get my runs. I will be in Asheville a couple of days next week for work and it will be cooler so I plan on running outside up there. Sorry for being so long winded today. Your turn !
Post em up !!
