Dear Kenyans and Ethiopians,
Elite athletes across the world train just as hard as you do. You must refrain from attributing your running successes to how much harder you think you work than everyone else (or do you just mean white people?). It is time to recognize Charles Darwin might have been on to something with that whole 'evolution by natural selection' thing, and that perhaps there's an inherent advantage in having a genome tempered at high altitude over millions of years of homonid development.
In your ignorant mentality, when you win, its because you outworked everyone. They'd win global XC and long-distance track titles if only they worked like you do. Here's a news flash.
Lebron James isn't the best basketball player because he outworks everyone. Usain Bolt isn't the best sprinter because he outworks everyone. Kenyans and Ethiopians aren't the best distance runners because they outwork everyone.
One reason Dathan Ritzenhein's American Record in Zurich was a big deal because people love an underdog. We loved watching him gobble up Kenyan after Kenyan because runners like him do not often emerge from any geographic location besides East Africa. It would not have been as enjoyable had he been passing a bunch of Nigerians or Chinese. His achievement was the result of talent, intelligent tactics, toughness, and a work ethic that matches anyone on the planet.
Get over yourselves.
Sincerely,
Hard-working Earthlings
P.S. Why don't you work your way to a 9.58?
