He's still on pace for AR! Probably won't hold it, but not bad.
10:55 with two to go!
10.25 through 4k! he is flying.
looking great!
can you watch this anywhere?
I apologize. He is sick! Salazar is unreal. OHHH MY GOD!
What do you think of Flagpole now? Oh, wait, you're still a bunch of jealous whiners, both when it comes to him and when it comes to Ritz/Rupp/whoever else is doing well.
It has been BRUNGEN. By the CRACK HOME.
The fast pace actually helped him. Hung in the back, still running a fast pace, got gapped, but the fast pace killed the Kenyans creating targets for a very fit Ritz. Great race.

I would love to dig up that tread from several days back when all the argument was on how he couldn't even go under 13:10. This just goes to prove that a lot of letsrunners have way to much fascination with E. Africans and a total lack of perspective on how and when PR's are set. Also goes to show that they couldn't understand how remarkable that 27:22 was in a championship race that starts out slow and was quite hot.
I have argued that Rupp was ready for 27:0X and 13:0X earlier this season IF he was in the right race only to hear how he couldn't be. There are times when you can just watch a runner perform and know he's on a level beyond his PR's. Dathan looked he was ready for a tear at USA's and just needed to sharpen up. Well, now we have it. I suspect that he and Rupp (along with the Schumacher boys) will launch an all out assault on the 3K, 5K and 10K next summer. It will be fun to watch.
This thread is funny after seeing the result...simply stunning last 1k (2:29.x!!). Dathan should assault the 10k soon. He is riding the wave, and it will start cresting sooner or later, so he might as well get his name in the record books!!
all i can say is this guy has balls of steel.
watched it, loved it wrote:

The season is almost over. His 27:22 is not indicative of what he can do in a golden league 10K race. The next 12 months under Salazar will put him in shape to own AR's from 3K-10K, but I believe Rupp will be too. I wouldn't be surprised if Webb would be too at least up to 5K. SCAAAARY to think about.
