Just curious...if I've been training for a 3:00 marathon and am running a 10K tune-up race (untapered), is it reasonable for me to expect to hit the 10K time that the calculators out there suggest is equivilant to a 3:00 marathon?
For example, McMillan suggests a 38:21 10K is equivilant to a 3:00 marathon. Daniels puts it closer to 39:00. If all of my training over the past 4 months has been geared toward the marathon, should I expect to hit these times in a tune-up race?
I'm 4 weeks out from my marathon and ran a 39:20 10K. Part of me is thinking that I should run 38:30 at least to have a shot at 3:00 while the other part of me thinks I'm being to hard on myself (i.e. I'm training for a marathon...not a 10K). My workouts and MP long runs have otherwise gone quite well.
Anyone have any thoughts?
