Jason Schmidt sent to 60 day DL ending his time with dodgers.
Now they signed him to a 47 million dollar 3 year deal.
Slice it any way
$4.7 million per game played
$1.1 million per inning pitched
$15.7 million per win
Now tell me where such a travesty would exist in the running world.
Popular sports are a joke.
Well to be fair, there are several CEOs who really suck and get paid $10 million dollars to leave.
Also, for every Jason Schmidt, there is a Tim Lincecum who gets paid $4 million or so for his first 3 years and goes on to win 2 Cy Youngs. A less extreme example (and one that presumes FMV) would be Jayson Werth getting paid $1.7 million dollars last year to put up what fangraphs argues as a $23 million dollar season. Or how about Raul Ibanez and getting paid $23 million dollars by the Mariners over 5 years, yet producing $40 million dollars worth of value.
