The central problem with Ted is rampany hypocrisy. He "fought" for equal justice for the least of us, but always used privilege, money and power to exempt himself from justice. He "fought" for equal rights for women, but he was a member of the all-male Owl Club himself, not to mention how he drove his first wife nuts. He "fought" for the environmrnt until someone wanted to put wind mills off the Massachusetts coast. He was smart, he was rich, and he captured the hearts of people who blame America for the ills of the world - for this he became a hero. His supporters would have us believe he did so much good, but he was more adept at political posturing than real philanthropy. Paraphrasing Buckley - the heart of liberal thinking is that the policies sound good, but they do not work. The true shame is that he is being buried at Arlington National Cemetery, where only real heroes should be buried. I'd be upset if I was a hard-working person who could only afford to visit my slain warrior's grave side on a Saturday afternoon and I were barred so they could bury the winner of the North American Benny Hill look-alike contest.
