That is totally stupid. Thank you for posting the article. I agree this should be a big deal on letsrun and basically nothing has been said, a terrible biased political decision which is a huge blow to international distance running.
So is it going to be in even years or odd years? It seems like it'd be more sensible for odd years since World indoors is even. Not that many cross-country type guys do indoor worlds but at least to spread out the global championships.
Isn't world indoors every year? I thought it was...
Anyway, if indoors is evens, then make xc odds. Otherwise the clash. Obviously, there will always be an indoor season and an international permit xc season, but it would be OK if the emphasis shifted back and forth. I liked xc as it was, but if it has to change, then I say alternate with indoor champs. The only problem with that is, the even non-Oly years (such as 2010, 2014, etc) really get screwed for championships. No one REALLY cares about world indoors except for some russians. I guess that leaves those years open to WR attempts and off-distance racing.
XC is extremely popular.
This is a threat to the old men who run the IAAF.
This writer writes the world xc starts going every 2 years sttarting in 2010. I don't know where she got the information exactly, because I haven't seen the years mentioned by the iaaf press releases.
I guess the Americans will get embarrassed only every other year now.
No, in the off years, Areas - which are really just continents - are going to have theiry own xc championships. I guess the NACAC already does this pretty much every year, though. Either way, we'll still dominate the canadians, mexicans, and carribean nations. YAY for us!
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
