Hey everyone, just figured I'd start a thread to track how I, and others, have been affected by upping their mileage this Summer (whether drastically or not). Coming out of high school, I had PR's of 10:30 for 3200, and 17:00 for 5k. My first year of college after an injury in the spring, I ran about 550 miles in the summer, and had an 8k PR of 28:51.
So far I've been training consistently since January, and I have upped my mileage to be on pace for a bit over 800 by the time summer is over. The training is way different though, mostly just runs with occasional pickups and strides, whereas when I did 550 miles last summer I did workouts and whatnot. Pretty big goals though, I think I can progress a lot once I drop the mileage a little and start hammering workouts.
1st XC race: 27:50
Peak XC race: 26:30
Anyone else have some high expectations after a great Summer?
