My spirit is going to be pissed. No race day packet p/u!
Out of towners must p/u packet/bib on saturday and spend the night in CBus. Shuttle buses start leaving at 5:55 AM...with more info coming soon....like where they leave from, frequency, capacity etc.
Fleet Feet is in a different county, 30 miles from the finish and 25 miles from the start. Good luck finding it if you have never been up there. Predicted rain on Saturday so plan on geting wet waiting in long lines while 1000 runners cram into a parking lot designed for 10 cars attempt packet p/u.
Good luck if you are flying in and taking taxi's. Taxi fare will offset the early registration fee.
Welcome to the suckage that is race promotion and direction in Columbus, OH. I don't know of a major city that has a worse reputation than Columbus does.
I was doing a run with some friends of mine at Highbanks last week, and as we were just about to take off, a guy comes up to us and says, "Are you training for anything?" We answered, and then he introduced himself as one of the managers of one of these horrible organizations in town. We had all heard of him. As we were beginning our run, one of the guys says, "I've only heard bad things about that guy." Well, I'm sure the guy is a decent guy, but any of the races he organizes or any of the races pretty much anyone in town organizes (oddly enough except for the John Bingham "The Penguin" races), are simply crap. You can pay a ton of money for a race and then not get race results after it for some of them! It's just really really bad here for racing. I try to not do it at all if possible.
