It's unlikely, though anything is possible if you put in the miles. Work your mileage up and your times down gradually and look at it as a long term goal. Go for sub 3, then sub 2:50, sub 2:40, etc. Focus on getting in consistent mileage and staying healthy, this is much more important than running some awesome weeks and then missing a month with injury or burning out.
You have been training for a few years and have not broken three hours yet so you are going to need to seriously change what you have been doing. Look at the fall marathon training thread we do every week. Most of the 2:30 guys are running 100+mpw fairly comfortably. Unless you are Ryan Hall or Ritz I doubt 60mpw is going to get you a sub 2:30.
definitely! Otherwise, I will just get demotivated if I just aim for the 2_30 from now. There is some chance that I might go sub 3 in Berlin on sep 20th. I have been following the advanced marathoning book training plan (upto 55 miles, 12 week program), but due to some travelling I have missed out one full week and one long run (the longest one, 32K was supposed to do it twice, two weeks ago and this week, but I could only manage to do it this week).
The Garmin forerunner 305 I orderd from amazon has just arrived with the heart rate monitor, I have the mcmillian core workeout dvd, and the following books (advanced marathoning, yoga for athletes, streching). I will try to go sub three in Sepetember or April (madrid), and if that goes well, I will set a goal of like -3min per marathon, that is 6 minutes per year, which will take me to 2:30 in 5 years...or maybe a more logical progression can be something like -7min first year, -6min second year, -5min third year, -4min fourth year, -3 min fifth year, -2 min sixth year, etc...
well, I think the Berlin results will give me some good indications where I stand and on how to proceed from there ...
