Some AD's are talking about punishment against athletes that don't get vaccinated including removal of scholarships and being barred from competition.
Just a reminder to get your vaccinations, they're free! Want to see you all running next year.

Sounds like my days in the Army. They made us get a series of Anthrax shots before deploying to Kuwait. We got the first one, then skipped out on the next few when things were ramping up, and people weren't paying attention.
Vaccinate all student athletes, I don't care what they say, they are a danger to other athletes and themselves. They shouldn't be allowed to compete if they aren't vaccinated. Good job to those AD's.
The schools in urban areas are the most at risk, UCLA, USC, NYC schools, Boston, Georgetown, and some of the other northeast schools, and the more northernly schools, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Michigan, Colorado and others in those regions are at the highest risk. If one athlete on a team gets swine flu, the whole team is at risk.
All athletes need to be vaccinated, especially at these schools.
just wanting to point this out.
have been out sick for a few days.
guy's son goes to family reunion with dad - they drive 2 hours in the car.
son is sick, infects dad.
dad, feeling bad on monday comes to work sick, and returns on tuesday with a fever. by wednesday i am feeling bad and go home early. thursday, take myself to urgent care center, scores of people come down with the same thing. one guy gets so sick so fast, his family takes him to the hospital - after checking negative for flu they check him for encephalitis, which involves the always fun spinal tap.
we have had a miserable week of work - all because some dumbass showed up sick to work. it was AMAZING how quickly this one bug shut down our office.
Yep. Yet still people act as if it is somehow a good thing that they come in when they are sick. As if it somehow shows their dedication or something like that. The point sick days isn't to ease your own discomfort. The point of sick days is to keep you from infecting everyone else.
I already got my hyperbole shot and hysteria vaccine. No worries.

If you're on a college team prepare to be off of it, and also be prepared to be with held from classes and having your scholarship revoked and college aid suspended until you get the shot, because you will one way or the other.
Pardon me for asking an intelligent question, but if everyone else is immune from the shot, what difference does it make if a few people don't get it.
After all the ones who get the shot are immune from getting it right?
Or... is it just a scam to inject some nevarious substance in your veins, against your will of course, because you are threatened if you don't "take the pill."

I agree. One person on every team should be exempt from having to drink the kool-aid if they don't want to.
Ok, this is getting silly. Swine Flu is not some insanely deadly plague, it's just a strain of the influenza virus that is difficult to eradicate with medication. The death rates have thus far been no worse than the normal season flu some 60million Americans get every year. Most of the severe cases in America are a result of underlying conditions exacerbated by the weakened immune system the flu results in. In a non-Third World country, the deaths from the swine flu are going to be limited to the already very weak, the old, and the very young (just like the regular flu- and of course, there will be those freak cases where a healthy adult just drops dead).
Basically, if you're athletic, have a strong immune system, and eat healthy, you could still get the flu- but after a week of being pretty uncomfortable, you'll most likely be fine. This attitude that we're dealing with a plague or something is ludicrous. If you're REALLY worried about getting sick, have a lot of citrus fruits and wash your hands often.
