My son is a freshman XC runner. He has a size 8 left foot and a size 11 right foot. It's been more of a nuisance up to this point because buying two pairs of shoes gets expensive. The hard part now is that his left foot (the smaller one) continues to find it's way into rabbit and gopher holes when he trains on grassy surfaces. He has twisted it twice since late July. Does anyone have any experience with this and how to counter it? Just wondering if there is a contraption similar to a snowshoe that could be affixed to his left foot. I know the smaller foot will work in his favor on the tight ovals on the indoor circuit, but right now it is troublesome. He is also very self-conscious as some of the upper classman have started the namecalling. "Left foot Larry", "Gopher Crusher" and "Speedy Stumpie" have worn on his psyche. He's a sensitive young man and has started wearing the other size 11 with 6 pairs of socks to fill the space. This just got the upper classman to come up with new names like "Bootsie" and "King of Cotton". It has been a rough two weeks to say the least.
