Good question, I think that the WR will stay where it is for a bit (read a year or so) Geb seems like he is starting to come back to earth after his run of breaking it a few times. I kind of have this feeling that KB won't run the marathon, but stick to track and xc for the next few yrs and maybe call it a amazing career. He hasn't done a half or 15k yet (well and finished). I don't doubt his ability, but more doubt his durability, since he has been at a high level for close to 10yrs already. Hope I am wrong, because i would like to see him throw down in a marathon, just don't think it is in the cards...

He ran 42:42 15k as a junior, it was a world junior record at the time. He has said he will stick with track through 2012 before moving up. If he's as durable as Geb (and Bekele hasn't had nearly the injury problems that Geb had to this point), he's got a good 8 years left.
It will be interesting to see how he fares in the marathon, certainly he has been much more durable than Geb so far in his career. He doesn't seem to have a marathoner build and running style, but then again, neither does Wanjiru and he has done alright so far.
I don't think Geb will lower the record again, if he does it will be negligible, maybe a few seconds. If it goes any lower it will be Wanjiru or another Kenyan.
