40m should be an even proving ground. As an added benefit this time is useful for NFL scouts.
I think this would generate some ratings... advertise it WR holder against WR holder. Fox did something with sprinters vs. animals. i recall a midget and a giraffe.
This has been discussed many times on here. I think the general agreement is 600m would be the best distance for a close race. Someone even while interviewing Micheal Johnson asked him who would win this race if it ever happened, he said Bolt. I disagree.
I think 600 is about right. 800 or 400 would be completely one sided.

While I do think it would be fairly close, I'm not sure Bekele can run much faster than he does at the end of his 10k. A little faster, sure, but not enough to counter Bolt's power.
Bekele would never make up the distance in enough time.

In an interview where he talks about Bolt, he said his 100m best is 11.00 seconds.
