Thanks to the IAAF - You Will Not Be Hearing and Seeing great Post Race Interviews with Rowbury, Lagat, Symmonds et al.

There doesn't seem to be any threat to the sport by making interviews available. Just earlier in the week LR was bragging about how many hits the Semenya interview was getting and how many other news outlets were referencing it.

The only problem: money grubbing IAAF officials weren't getting a slice of the pie.

USATF did the same thing at the Olympic trials last year. Only videos shot away from Hayward field were allowed. And you wonder why track remains a niche sport.

It's absolutely NOT un-American. The IAAF has the right to have it's media content distributed at its own perogative.

Here is an example for the hard of logic.

The National Football League allows reporters from the competing teams home tv stations, often 4 different local network affiliates, film and interview in the locker room and interview areas.

For instance, after the winning team has won, its' home city can see interviews in the locker room etc., on 4 different local stations.

They have a mixed zone, so no problem with reasonable access.

As someone said -- this is PURE GREED AND CONTROL FREAKDOM BY THE ASSHATS AT THE IAAF - WHO ACT LIKE ROYALTY AND ARE LORDING THIS POLICY OVER THE SMALL MEDIA OUTLETS.

So does this mean that the IAAF request of LR not to post post race interviews was some sort of punitive measure / threat?

The IAAF, if they did not ask ALL interviewers not to post their video's, is then guilty of punitive, petty, bullying tactics, akin to a restraint of trade, by not allow LR to do their job as journalists.

It is NOT "their media content" and whether they think they do or not, they DON'T own the athletes nor what they say. BRING BACK A FREE PRESS and cut the facade!

No, you don't understand the concept of ownership. The IAAF owns the World Championships. It's theirs. If you really believe in freedom as an American, you would understand and support the right of the IAAF to be selective with their press accreditation, whether or not you agree with their decisions.

They own the f***ing meet. If they think a certain outlet is distriburing content in such a way that they think is damaging to their product, they have every right to ask them to stop and to revoke their credentials.
