bekele wins 13:17, lagat chased him to the line.... qatari guy 3rd
bekele won 13:07
lagat 2nd 13:07 high.
teg 8th
Slow race. Last lap everyone started to Kick. Bekele controlled the whole thing all the way. 50m to go, Lagat takes lead, barely. Bekele out kicks lagat with 15m to go.
kickers race, Lagat already in front of Bekele with 50 to go but Bekele surged back and won by a small margin.
Teg 7th or so
terribly slow first kilometer
bekele controlled the tempo throughout, gradually winding up the pace.
last 1k around 2:25, last lap 54.
lagat came up around the curve, passed bekele by the slimmest of margins. bekele charged back with less than 50 meters to go to take the win.
Teg finished way out of the medals. Lagat took Bekele all the way to the line, looked like he was going to take him 'til the last 30 meters.
All three Americans ran well, but Teg and Solinsky off the back when the speed was too much on the last lap. I really thought Lagat was going to do it, although before the race I agreed with those sho said KB was unbeatable.
Kenenisa, the greatest athelete of all time. Even Lagat could not outsprint him.
This is one for history
Outstanding race! Slow... Bekele dictating pace throughout. Solinsky throwing his weight around. Group of 12 (at least) with 400 to go - Bekele kicks, Lagat and Bekele even w/ 100 to go, Lagat inches ahead at 60 to go, then Bekelr throws it in to yet another gear and Lagat fades just a bit... GREAT RACE! Was really puilling for Bernard!
Bekele edges Lagat in a very fast stretch battle.
Teg, Solinksi there the first 4600 but didn't have the closing speed to stay with the top 5-7 on the last lap.
Great finish- last 1km in 2.24. Lagat edged in front of Bekele in the last 100 after Bekele had led most of the race at a moderate pace, and then Bekele fought back and broke Lagat in the last 30m. Shades of El G-Lagat from Athens.
Slow for 2/3 of it, almost everyone in it with a lap to go, then everyone started to go. Lagat came into the lead tied with KB with 100 to go, the two battled it out to the end. Lagat went ahead at 60m to go and looked like he'd take it, but KB came right back and won by a couple meters. 13:17.8 or so for the win. Tegenkamp and Solinsky back in 8th and 12th, respectively. Both looked like they might have been in it until 100 and 200 to go respectively.
KB 13:17.09 not 13:07.
Slow race, out in 254.

10 or so guys bunched up at 400 to go.
Solinsky faded once the kickers started moving, teg was in it with about 200 to go along with lagat, another kenyan, bekele and kipchoge. with 100 to go lagat and bekele took off, 50 meters to go and lagat is leading. 40 meters and bekele comes up on lagat and bekele beats lagat by about 3 or 4 meters
a bit slow to start, 220 at 800, then bekele traded the lead with various kenyans. lots of 64-65 type laps, an occasional faster one thrown in by bekele. with 400 to go there were probably 8 or 9 guys still in contention. bekele really started kicking with 200 to go, lagat went with him and passed him at about 80 to go but bekele responded and won by just a bit. last lap 54.x last 1k 224.
1st bekele
2nd lagat
3rd james kwalia QAT
4th kipsiro
5th kipchoge
teg 8th
solinksy 12th
more or less, pack together for most race, 400m to go Bekele takes the lead Lagat in third o the inside, 200m to go lagat makes his move and edges ahead of Bekele, 100m to go lagat still with slight advantage, bekele not losing, 30m to go they are step for step next to each other, bekele surges and crosse line first, no walk for him, a little boltish at he end slapping his heart, no dancing though.
If he hadn't run the 1500m, he would. Clearly he tied because
of three fast races.
Much respect for Bernard Lagat. Ran it to win and did what he had to, but KB had a little bit more at the end.
