"It was pretty clear to anyone paying attention."Conto, thank you for chiming in and supporting what I said. I got excited when I heard Ritz say it, because if it were to actually happen, it would take what's going down on Nov. 1 to a whole 'nother level, BIGTIME! Ritz's performance in Berlin turned around the perception that his career was stalling, and that Hall is the defacto top American Born marathoner. I think those of us that follow Hall's and Ritz's careers sort of figured they would probably square off again sometime in the distant future (e.g., 2012 Oly Trials), but the possibility of even multiple confrotations between the two, leading up to 2012 didn't seem like much of a possibility to me until I heard that interview. Ritz says Salazar is getting him, training wise, where within a few weeks, he can either jump up to the marathon or down to shorter distance, with his longer-term goal to go 2:05 in the marathon!!And to 'Pic', I think most readers can understand I actually did not insult, even after you basically tried to discredit my post.

Actually,
According to the interview, Ritz does say that he wouldn't be running a fall marathon unless Mary paid him a lot of money to do it... I.e, to run NYC. So in theory, he threw out the hint to, for those that don't know, Mary Wittenberg, you know, the CEO of NYRR. I'll run NY if you pay me a few hundred grand (or whatever his number is). It was pretty clear to anyone paying attention.
