Why did BROOKS kill the Radius?
Why do shoe companies chronically rape the consumer then kill off good shoes?

Because they can, and know we'll keep buying whatever they put out there.
...video killed the radio star....
Brooks didn't kill the Radius.
The Saucony Ride killed the radius.
The Asics Landreth killed the radius
The Mizuno Rider killed the Radius
It was replaced by the Defyance, a very similar shoe. If you liked the Radius, I would suggest going for a spin in the Defyance.
I think the Defyance is being discontinued. Did the Brooks Summon replace it?

It was a crappy shoe from the time it hit the stores.
The Defyance 2 carries through year end. The Defyance 3 will be out Jan 2010. As has become the formula, it will be the previous year's Adrenaline with no post. So Defyance 3 will be a neutral version of Adrenaline 9.
Why did the Russians invade Afghanistan?
Has anyone else noticed that the Adrenaline is getting shittier? The GTS 5 was my favorite shoe of all time... the GTS 7 and 8 hurt the arch of my foot.
The ONLY reason any shoe company discontinues a shoe is because there are not enough sales (translates to votes) to keep the shoe.
If there isn't enough customer demand for a terrible shoe like the Radius, one must decide to discontinue even if a few unhappy customers will exist the company in the end appeases the masses.
Every company is looking for a great shoe (ie Supernova Sequence, 2140, Adrenaline) to carry loads of sales...but no company can go on making niche shoes for very long.

I had the very same problem.
The GTS 5 was a great shoe. I ran in it and then switched to the Brooks Axiom....which was just nixed as well.
I bought a pair of Ravenna but they don't quite feel "right" on my foot the way the Axiom did. Those of you who ran in the Axiom, what shoe have you adopted since its recent discontinuation?
Axiom just got a name change and a cosmetic update. Look at the Ravenna, it's really the same damn shoe as the Axiom with a few slight tweaks.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
