1st Heat crash... Down goes Kaki! Symmonds FTW!!
Sorry for the double post. Looks like Kaki's problems were self-imposed. Nick did exactly the right thing to go straight to the lead right afterwards. Great job!
KD didn't make it
WTF? Is right. Kiprop just like stopped running the last lap, and Ismail DNF'd. Jeez.
That crash must have been Jackson Kivuva of Kenya's fault. Never mind he was running a full arms length from everyone else.
Kiprop is either completely mentally destroyed by the 1500m. OR he was out there at the order of Athletics Kenya to ensure Yego got through by leading the way, then shutting it down on the rail (as planned) to screw up everyone else while yego on his outside sails on by. That was messed up.
And a front-running Borza.
Those semis were crazy. Lots of drama. Can't wait for the final.
Honestly, I think Kiprop did what he did to mess up the runners behind Kirwa-Yego and ensure his teammate a better shot at the final. There was absolutely no other reason to basically stop at 500m and not even go to the inside or outside.. he just slowed down right in front of KD. I don't think KD would have made it anyway but it was still a crappy move.
Also, I watched Kaki's legs when he fell and he was definitely tripped. His right leg was hit by the left thigh of the runner behind him causing it to trip him and land him on the rail. I don't think he was responsible for the crash based on what I saw in HD in slow motion..
I thought he connected with the guy behind him!

Yeah, that guy behind Kaki got Kaki's foot taking him down. I bet they let Kaki in the final.
he didn't finish though... not sure if they'll let him through if he didn't even try to finish.
What I read on IAAF blog, the Dutch Federation filed a protest. Moreover, the latest news is that the Polish guy who went down as well will advance to the final. Not quite sure how to interpret that...
Some guy says: "Polish protest was approved, Lewandowski will run in the final - this is the official information told in the TV broadcast".
Dutch media reporting that Som will also run the final.
WHO did make the finals?, I AM CONFUSED, looked like NASCAR
Video of the incident:
If everyonegets passed into the finals, that'll just lead to more carnage.
Watch at 20-21 seconds into that video and tell me the Dutch guy behind Kaki doesn't catch Kaki's right toe.
11 in an 800m final?! Whoa. That would be carnage. But would be AWESOME
The Dutch might have brushed the side of Kaki's leg making him trip on himself. But he didn't trip him. It is Kaki's fault for going to the front and then slowing way down.
