Agreed.
I hope they let me in the final also, Nick Symmonds got lucky today
KD didn't make it
Symmonds needs to run the race that Borzakovsky ran. Yuri kept himself out of trouble by staying in the second lane and jumping in the front earlier than he wanted. Symmonds needs to realize that he can't lag behind and try to get out of trouble in the lat 150 meters. If he has to run a few extra yards in the 2nd or 3rd lane to keep from getting boxed in, then so be it.

agreed, although he doesn't have Borza's talent. But, he got in, more than Gary Reed can say.

While I happen to agree with you, it was interesting to read Manzano get trashed for this very tactic in some of the threads about the 1500 final.

Why do you have to bring in Reed, not even part of Symmonds heat, and trash him? Symmonds got damn lucky with that fall. He reacted well to it and ran a smart race but definitely benefited from it.
You, sir, have clearly never attempted to beat people who are just as good or better than you in an 800. While that is a good strategy if you are better than your competition, it is a suicide tactic if they are as good as or better than you. If Symmonds wants to medal, he needs to get in the mix and move up on the rail the whole way. Of course what I just said goes out the window in a tactical race, which is why the 800 has so much parody in it; there is no perfect strategy and you can be completely screwed by what those around you do.

1500 is almost 2x the distance, the time out of lane one starts to add up (and it's arguably already significant in an elite 800, but better to run a little extra than to get boxed).
