Nakuelewa ndugu. I haven't screamed the way I did in a long while. I now have a headache.
Linet Masai is remarkably outstanding. She is stunning!
Ilove how NBC never even gave her a mention during the introduction just before the race, let alone mentioning her. To them, she didn't exist or did she?
They never even showed her on the screen. Then, when she won, it took a while for them to show her doing her 'victory thing.'
NOw they'll respect her.
Well done Chepkwemoi.
From the coverage, it appears to be that Defar got spiked by the Kenyan. Her achilles started to shut down on the homestretch, otherwise she probably would have won easily. She just about stops with 10m to go as she realizes she's injured.
I'm not a Kenyan, but damn that was exciting. I was yelling and jumping! DAMN! Linet Masai = amazing.

If she got spiked it's because she was forcing her way to the rail when she didn't have enough advantage to do so. Masai had to break stride twice on the last lap when the Ethiopians forced their way inside.
Kenya hoiyee!!! Hongera kwake Linet Masai.
I too was jumping on my seat cheering her. We are on to something, its about time we put these Ethiopians in their place. I hope one of our 10k or 5k boys pull one on Bekele, we'll party like crazy if that happens. Yes we Can!!!
The 1st time Masai had to break stride was because they came up on a lapped runner and Masai had no where to go without fouling Defar. That was her own fault.

You don't stop with 10m to go in a championship final unless your name is Asafa Powell. Spiked or not (I didn't see anything at the actual kick but I did see something earlier), you don't hold back right before the finish unless you're inexperienced at WC racing (which Defar is not). The Ethiopians did not see Masai coming, pure and simple--note the celebration from ultimately second place "winner." Either Defar didn't have enough left (which I think is the case) or made a tactical mistake that someone at her level should not be making.

Ha ha ha ha!!!
Coach D,
You made my day, really!!
Defar does not have enough experience running the 10k.. masai took the pace hard and let the other kenyan help her.
She was toast if the ethiopians took it out for 400.. but the ethiopians put the breaks on with 200 to go.. again.
Defar paid for that because the 71-69s that masai had thrown down had an impact.. not sure if Defar was spiked .. but the video showed that she stuttered at 150.. was clean .. until the final 30.
It looked like ther was a bump that affected defar and melkamu..at the end.
Melkamu should have won that race!
really disappointed for the Ethiopian team.. given the times the team produced... its always tough to wait for the world champs and not produce.
Masai deserved the win...but gutted for our ethiopians...
There is always the 5000 where probably dibby will get revenge
clearly defar had some kind of injury. it almost looked like it was a tightening of the achilies.
She probably will withdraw from the 5k :(

BS.
The kenyans planned for this race and executed it as a team perfectly. They 3 runners knew exactly where the others were and what they were doing.I think they had told masai to stay off the early action while Kiplagat and Momanyi tease the ethiopians. This race was not just won on the track;it had already been won at the dressing room.
yeah, she was thinking about what she was going to eat.
she needed to earn that check to pay the bills.

Bills in Kenya are anon issue.
Many people, (I didn't say most) own the homes they live in. You just build your small little house on your two or five acre farm and you are set for life. No rent/mortgage.
Electricity, for those who have it is cheap.
NO car notes for the majority of the folks. You don't have to drive. You walk or take a matatu.
No credit cards to talk about. Most people aer farmers who grow their own food for subsistence, then sell the surplus.
If you can't afford something, then you won't have it.
Masai has made enough money, alongside her brother Moses, to buy a farm, build htem a house, buy them a pick up truck and live happily ever after.
Seh's only 19 and therefore will still be living with her parents until the day she gets married.
Well, I hope one Matt Tegencamp is watching the video of Masai's race with respect to how to time one's kick.

Masai got boxed or would have won easily. Defar was DONE and just stopped instead of going DRAMA and collapsing at the finish.
I doubt Masai has been in a situation before where she had the opportunity to get boxed in a 10k race. Not surprising she let it happen and had to wait to make her move.
