I just did 17.78 seconds.
So go fill up a powerade/gatorade bottle with water and time it.

You just made that time up or you would realize how ridiculously slow that is.
Under 10 for sure.

Nope didn't make it up. I don't usually go around chugging water. I'm surprised I could even do it without taking a breath.
It would be WAAAY easier out a glass than a bottle.

I knew someone who could do a liter in 4 seconds.
I'm not sure but I do know it's not as fast as I can drink 20 ounces of beer.
well i can chug 12 ounces of beer in 7.5 seconds, so 20 ounces of water i'm guessing would take me, if i was thirsty, around 3 or 4 seconds.
i'll time it later.
It may not be water --it's beer-- but this guy can drink two 12 ounce mugs in about 3 seconds.
I don't know about 20 oz, but my friends and I had a challenge going for a while to see who could drink a liter (~32 oz) out of a nalgene the fastest. I did 9.6 seconds once and 10.x on multiple occasions. Most of the times from dudes were in the mid teens to mid 20s. The fastest I saw from a girl was 27 seconds.
I guess what I'm trying to say is 17 seconds for 20 oz seems really slow.
I can drink 20 oz. in about 12 seconds as long as the water is not cold, i have an empty stomach and I'm thirsty. Otherwise, I can drink it straight down.
Thats like saying a 6 minute mile for someone who never ran before is slow.

I meant "I can't..."
We used to do this during the season.. But it was 40 oz out of a Blending machine. 19.68 seconds!! A lot of us would puke afterwards..
Ex. Drink two nalgene bottles in under two minutes and I guess ur supposed to puke because your body can't handle that much water.
i admit, i was bored so i tried it. i used a 20 oz gatorade bottle i had laying around (as per original post) and i did it in 7.49 seconds with my roommate timing.
You must not live in the South because after a hard long run in the heat and humidity I can drink up to 4 1/2 nalgene bottles in under a minute then finish up the other half a few minutes later.
I live in GA, just about as south as it gets.
And 7 seconds is fast. Hell I still think 17 seconds is fast.
eddy lee's little brother, is that you?
I'm confident you can get to sub 4:00 if jonesy coaches you.
Just re-did the challenge and set a pr of 13.13
it's funny this thread came up, because when I got home from a run tonight, I filled a HUGE glass of ice cold water up and timed myself drinking it. It took 40 seconds, (I got brain freeze part way through, though)
