Nate seems to be getting everything in order for WC's!

That is because Nate Jenkins is the man!
I hear he may do a progression run all the way over to Berlin.
He's trying to beat Conan's coast to coast record setting run.
Does he seriously run 4 miles in almost 33 minutes? That is the most pointless thing I have ever seen. No wonder he is so dead from running long runs at 6 minute pace. That's just not even impressive. He has no real endurance. 122 miles in a week filled with most of the running around 8 minute pace is a joke. I am actually so sick of people giving a guy that runs 120+ miles a week at the pace of a 50 year old woman. I've been following a little of what he's doing because I have friends that are fans but taking every run as "recovery" because you're tired from running 6 minute pace for 20 miles is a complete joke for a professional runner. What a puss*y.
Again having run with Nate, all his runs deserve a + at the end of them (4+). And if thats his recovery pace so be it. Many elites run easy on their recovery days especially if they are up near his mileage levels. The load of work he does will never qualify him as a wuss....maybe stupid (running heavy mileage on bad injuries, eating only oatmeal, doing excessive workouts all in one day) but he is still a crazy damn good runner and like always will be ready when he needs to be and will gut it out.
I lived in Boulder Colorado and saw 2:07 Japanese marathoner runners hitting 8-9 minutes a mile all the time.
I doubt nate runs 8 min mile pace. I've ran with him on one of his easiest days and it was under 8 by a long shot.
Yes, he seriously does.Anyone who has seen Nate workout knows he is no joke. "24×1K with short rest (34 to 53 seconds avg.42 seconds) reps avg. 3:13.8, legs very tired after, but this was 15 miles of work at 2:16 marathon pace on a windy track (20 to 25mph)."Before criticizing him please preface it with your highest finish at the Olympic Trials.

Pretty sure Wejo has said he ran plenty of "slow" miles en route to his 28:06 10k off of "mediocre" talent.

Haha it's really funny that you think you know better. By all means, go get 7th or better at the 2012 Trials, then find Jenkins and tell him what an idiot he is. Make sure you do all your easy runs at sub-6 pace, so no one thinks you're a "puss*y". Let us know how it goes, jackass. By the way, if you see any Kenyans or Ethiopians loping along at 8+ min pace (as I'm sure most of us have at some point), let them know they're running slower than 50 year old women. Maybe if they stop to cry around mile 20 you'll have a chance to catch back up.

This is why the US has so much more depth (and is stronger at the top end) than Japan in the marathon. It should be obvious by now that they do not know what they are doing, and someone training similarly is just stupid. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us. It is obvious you know the correct way to train, and this must be why you are either a really successful athlete, or at the very least a very successful coach. Thank you again.
Additionally, I must reiterate a point you made. He must be a f***ing pus*y. 22 miles at around 6 minute pace, on top of a 120 mile week and a few hard workouts in there too? Doesn't everyone on letsrun do that, but have their easy runs at around 6 minute pace as well? The dude needs to man the f*ck up.
Can someone explain to me again the fascination with Nate Jenkins?

Yeah, I saw huge packs of Africans trotting around the Boulder Reservoir (way slower than 8 min. miles), wearing tracksuits in the middle of the summer.
It's mainly because he is uncommonly open about his training. And because everyone likes rooting for the underdog.
