he hasn't changed his act since he moved into Leno's slot.
same old childish antics that used to be funny when he was younger.
not anymore, he's 46 years old.

He's not funny anymore? He never was funny.
I agree. He used to be very funny.
Same thing happened to Letterman. Now it is hard to believe he was ever funny.
How are the ratings for conan's late show? I heard they continue to drop on a steady basis.
I agree.
Sincerely,
Water Is Wet
I like Conan but his stuff hasn't been the same.
Jimmy Fallon on the other hand is a disgrace. Horrendous monologues that makes the audience feel awkward, crappy skits which he repeats way too often and relies on his previous SNL skits for laughs. Needs to be replaced soon.
Conan and Jimmy Fallon are both out of their element.
The Tonight Show's ratings have been in steady decline.
Fallon is absolutely and dreadfully awful. He may have done well at times on SNL, but he's doing nothing right now.

NBC made a BIG mistake moving the ratings-winning Leno out of the Tonight Show spot. Leno was a better interviewer than Conan, he had a better band, he had some very good mainstay comedy bits (Headlines and Jaywalking), and he came across as very personable and down to earth...all reasons why he was kicking Letterman's ass for years. I honestly don't know what they were thinking. The Tonight Show has lost some of its prestige with Conan at the helm. I even like Conan a little bit, but he's no Jay Leno. Leno was WAY better. I would say that maybe Conan will grow into the role, but he's already had his own show for years. The best thing Conan has going for him is that he drives a 1992 Ford Taurus.
I hope Leno's upcoming fall show at 10 p.m. is a big hit.
The last time I watched Jimmy Fallon, his jokes had a lot of 90s references. He also does too many jokes in his monologue. I like Conan for the skits. Monologues are overrated. Conan is funnier than Leno or Letterman.

Lame, lame, lame. Interviewing random dumbasses on the street is what passes for good comedy?

Call it lame if you like, but Leno was on top of the ratings since he did that interview with Hugh Grant in July 1995, and Jaywalking was one of his most popular bits. Conan is not as good as Leno was, and the ratings are showing it. Uneducated people (with the capacity to BE educated) deserve to be laughed at, and as Leno always insisted, they didn't have to look hard to find people who couldn't answer basic questions.
You say I'm too old...well, that's the audience for The Tonight Show and always has been. College kids watch the shows after that. Conan is a bad fit for that slot, and again, the ratings are showing that to be the case.
personally i think conan is much funnier than leno, but his humor does not appeal to the same broad mass leno does. i don't want to get in a war on senses of humor, which is why i said "personally."
in general, if something is "the most popular" in america, well, i'll just say get in touch with who the average american is.
fallon makes me feel uncomfortable watching. i want to send a letter to nbc directly asking for his job even though i have no experience. seriously i just feel bad for him watching him up there.

you know about an interview of HUGH GRANT in NINETEEN NINETY FIVE??? you just proved the lameness of your opinions.
conan has the better band

Sure. Leno is famous for that interview, and it is the thing that turned his ratings around. Even if just a student of history of American pop culture, a person should know that about Leno and The Tonight Show if they are to have an opinion about either.
Find Conan O'Brien funny if you want. I think he's funny even...just not as funny, not as sincere, not as polished as Jay Leno. O'Brien's monologues are always awkward. And Leno's band was WAY better than the new Tonight Show Band with Max Weinberg (no slam on him, he's a great drummer, but his band isn't as good as Kevin Eubanks' band). AND, all those guys in O'Brien's band are stiffs. Kevin and some of the other guys in Leno's band were actually charismatic and funny. And Kevin Eubanks is one hell of a guitarist.
the whole thing is suppose to be weird and awkward. that's why its funny, but everyone has different taste. I liked Conan a lot better at the later time slot though, and Leno is alway good.
i like that ferguson guy off the late late show more then any of them now...
Just me, but I have never found Conan particularly funny.

Agree with everything but the Taurus, which was likely a joke in a Conan-type of way anyway. Leno's more generic, but more polished and a better IMPROMPTU comic when he has to compromise. O'Brien's not as good when the teleprompter malfunctions, if you catch my drift. But NBC is NBC for a reason.
