predictions??? come on lets hear some
it lehighs course is fast... i'm thinking at least 10 guys under 25
1. Allegheny
2. Dickinson
3. Carnegie Mellon
4. Elizabethtown
5. Haverford
1.Dickinson
2.Dickinson
3.Dickinson
4.Dickinson
5.Haverford
Cortland?
Probably not 10 sub 25, I'd be surprised anyway. Any predictions on individuals, men and women? Is Christa Johnson, last year's winner still around? Any top female runners from the Centennial or MAC conference?
well, first of all, cortland is in a different region. but on the women's side, powerful teams from the MAC would be messiah and etown once again. messiah should have a strong showing although i'm pretty sure kooser graduated (but don't quote me on that) but they should still have a strong team
Men
Allegheny
Dickinson
Etown
CMU
Haverford
Messiah
Susquehanna
Gettysburg
Johns Hopkins
Salisbury
Doesn't seem like there is as much depth on the women's side this year. I think it will be close between Allegheny and Dickinson for the men. Etown had some fast freshman this past year that will be returning. CMU and Haverford are always good. This is mostly just going on last years results and who's returning who. Lehigh should be quick, hopefully the winner will be sub-25.
Guys individual champ is open for grabs a lot of seniors that graduated were at most of the top spots last year. Penetar is gone too, good chance for Greg Leak
Fetus regionals?
penis rejionals
Kooser has graduated, Cronin from LVC should be pretty good though from the MAC Conference. Won ECACs by a large margin and is the top returner.
Based on all of last year, top individuals should be...
Leak (3rd at Reg. last year, 31:07)
Marker (14:27)
Parker (3:50)
O'Toole (3:50/14:40)
Donatelli (30:36)
Dipre (4:09 indoors)
Pecora (9:04 ST)
Southwick (9:16 ST)
See how any of this translates to XC.
bump
1. Allegheny
2. Dickinson
3. Etown
4. CMU
5. Haverford
I'd say there's 4 solid national-caliber teams in the mideast this year. Depending on how the season progresses the Mideast likely desreves 2-3 at-large bids in Novemeber.
How does CMU get such good runners? The school is very expensive for DIII and much, much more academic based than many other schools. I would think they would have a hard time finding hs runners who meet their academic criteria to get admitted. Yet they've made NCAAs for 4yrs now?
its because distance runners are smart a yale study has come up with the average D1 xc runner in 2004 their average sat scores were 1453, and average gpa 4.31
haverford put 5 guys under 15:00 in one race this past year (and 1 more at 15:04) and are coached by Tom Donnelly and no one predicts them better than 5th in the region. I don't know much about the mideast, but I know d3 isn't good enough that a team of 5+ sub 15 guys won't get better than 5th in their region. and i ran d3 before everyone hates on that true statement.
but 2 of those guys graduated
yeah 2 of Haverford's guys did graduate, but 4 of their 7 from last year should be returning and that was good enough for 16th in the nation last year.
