Russell out-leans teammate/legend Will Leer at the tape to win his first race as a pro in Europe.
3:37.32 to 3:37.37... PB's for both. Flotrack has the race vid; pretty nasty kick to home.
This guy will run 3:34.x in a year's time.
Write it down.

Rresults of the whole meet....in some strange language, but you get the hint :
Man it's good to see wolfman back. That guy is talented as f***.
Wow, Vessey missed 2 by .04! Was this her last shot?
New Hampshire REPRESENT!
Russ... what a beast!
also i had commented on flotrack for the video of him rabbiting the 1500m in Hseuden... he made a good call on going to the Oregon Project...
Clearly this 3:37 means he made a GREAT call...
How many sub 3:40 runners are residing in Oregon right now?!
Tom Kloos is continuing to have a great year...he's pr'd in the 1500/3ki,3k,5k,10k, and run his second fastest steeple ever with his pr run in 2003.
Did he retire fromm 2003-2007? Or was he injured?
Either way it's great to see him back at it, and hopefully he busts a sub 8:30 steeple soon for a pr there as well, setting him up well for the next few years if he sticks at it before probably hanging them up as he is 31 right now. I have to imagine he's thinking of giving it another 3 years for a go at the Olympics, or he wouldn't be competing at this level right now.
A more worthwhile statistic would be, how many sub 3:35 (0, if I am not mistaken) runners are there in Oregon right now. But we have to start somewhere.
Who is this Russel Brown character?
Wow, russel looked great.
This guy has a future. It's impressive how he ran 3:37 his 1st race back.Cant wait to see what he does.

Probably nothing significant.

A beast he is, but although he went to high school in New Hampshire, he's from Norwich, VT.
Interestingly, the same is true of Andrew Wheating, probably the only other Vermonter to go sub-3:40: a Norwich resident who went to Kimball Union Academy in N.H.
Russell is from Hanover, NH. He is not from Norwich.
No. Russell is from Hanover, NH... You are confusing him with AW.
One can tell he is from NH by the sweet mullet he sports.
Does anyone out there know what the race plans are for the gents for the rest of the summer?
I would love to see what Russell (the NH NATIVE!) could do in a fast race (sub 3:35 type race). I know they are getting few and far in between as the summer goes along.
I'm happy for Leer. He has struggled a little bit this year. He looked GREAT in the prelims at USAs, then a 1500 pund bear jumped his ass with 100 to go in the final. I was screaming for the kid, but damn that was heartbreaking. In Europe up to this point, he has not looked good at all. It seems he's gotten it turned around now. Good for him. Keep it going Leer. Grow the stache back and become invincible again!
And good job to Brown, too. Didn't he go to indoor worlds in 08 while still at Stanford? I haven't seen much of him since then, but this indicates he's doing well.
Damn...OTC is just killing things right now. In a good way.
That 3:37.32 is a new OTC record too, I believe.
Russell is real race savvy, and has the talent to be a 3:32.x runner down the road; wouldn't doubt he could be a yearly fixture on world teams if he stays healthy (knocking on wood).
russell's interview from Gent just went up.
He looked really good rabbiting earlier in the week, very relaxed and controlled taking the pack through 1100m.
