according to athleticore, the "cabadasscobra" logged 46 miles two weeks ago, and 14 miles last week. he has only one long run of 17 miles in the last 4 weeks.
6 weeks to WC and he's saying "there's still time"?

CabaDONE!
so who wins Cabada or Jenkins?
So where in the hell is Glenn Latimer? You must show recent fitness to compete on a World Team. If he is currently unfit to participate, kick him to the curb. What has Jenkins run to prove his fitness? This is why LDR is not respected. In Osaka one of the guys arrived hurt and never started. The mens half marathon team had an entire team that hadn't raced in months. They all took the trip and knew they had no chance of being competitive.
I heard Young is doing 140 a week. He'll be ready.
Jenkins and Cabada need to man up and give up their spots. This is for your country step aside.
If Jenkins runs poorly he will be the most hated runner in the sport(...short of DK)
I would like to see you give up your spot on the team because of a minor set back like nate. He earned that spot and is training hard for Berlin He still has 5 weeks left and has been getting in great training. So his races havent gone like he had wanted. He will be ready to go in Berlin.
and he was avg. 85 mpw the 4 weeks before the injury.
there is no way he will run under 2:30.
Nate, with all due respect, is in a hole the size of the grand canyon. If he's ready for Worlds, it will be nothing short of a miracle.
He just ran 5:18 per mile in his last race. And 5:10 per mile for a 4 miler not long ago. Why he is still racing, no one knows. He needs to stop racing, and train. Focus on getting back on track through a couple good, solid weeks of marathon training.
He needs a coach. It's just that simple.
The guy made a world team, I dont care if someone broke a leg, how many guys would give up a spot? Lets be smart idiots.
Just because someone doesnt post their mileage you decide they are not fit? How dumb are letsrun users seriously
Cabada and Nate are two different issues. Cabada has been only rumored to be hurt and not training. It can't be confirmed. From what I understand, I would error on the side that Cabada is not training well at the moment. Nate - it's obvious he's way off his best form. I don't think he should give up his spot. I just think he should quit traveling around and racing. Now is the time to focus on marathon preparation...not a 15k race in NY. He's dug himself a big hole. He may be able to recover for Berlin. Stranger things have happened. No doubt about it...
But Nate doesn't have to post his mileage for people to see he's not running well. Cabada will be Cabada. Who the hell knows what he's doing...
Qualified 2 years ago. Was it a 6th or 7th place finish? What color is that medal? That is another thread.
He is not in racing shape...barely running shape. It is a US team the right ethical thing to do would be to man up and opt out. Hopefully he will do the right thing.
i want cabada to come on here himself (as he sometimes does) and tell us he is injured. otherwise i am not believing anything on here and not counting him out of any race or contentions at worlds and neither should anyone else
just my $2
on 7/1.. "Screwed myself. Achillies is really bad. Tough spot to be in really. I thought I had this all under control but thats not the case"
on 7/3.."Ran on the Altra G machine at Adams state. Its not getting any better. Need to take a couple of days off."
on 7/7 after 7 mile easy run...
"achillies started to hurt right around 6 miles this time. Driving me nuts. I am going to take the rest of the week off. I just want this thing to be over with. Still going to the physical therapist everyday. Still have time.".
no runs logged since.
Where is Nate Jenkin's log now that Trackshark is gone?
I wouldn't read into his log too much. I'm not saying he isn't injured, but he has done something like this before. He sandbagged his log kind of like this just before the Twin Cities Marathon, then won the thing going away.

yep, injured. and i'm always right about everything, forever
Matty G. is right on schedule. At least it appears and let's hope so.
7/13...
"Ran with Mihaela, hoping that I was going to be able to get into the swing of things since I took 5 days off. Not the case, achillies started to hurt by 2 miles. I am going to have to make a harsh decision in the next day or so. Going back to Boulder and seeing a couple of more people before making the decision. I don't want to go into the world championships not prepared. I need to be training hard at the moment."
