Anybody been following this kid who is running clear across Europe this summer? He's got tendinitis right now and still going. It's impressive and amusing stuff.

I'm following it. Have been friends with Ryan the past few years and he's been planning this trip for several months. He's a very self-sufficient, resourceful, and creative guy. As an architecture student, he was drawn to Europe to see firsthand some of the world's oldest and most famous buildings. Much of the trip revolves around that. He flew out to Europe a few days after graduating from Columbia and a couple weeks after his last race.
He is traveling very light, carrying about 4 lbs total in a small backpack. While planning the trip I believe he spoke with Scott Sehon, who ran across the US about 6-7 years ago with another fellow. I'm pretty sure Scott suggested using a baby jogger, but Ryan decided to try the really light backpack.
Hopefully this injury he has now will subside, but not sure how if he's covering that much ground each day. May need to stop somewhere for a few days. He has been running a good deal more per week than he did back in NY and looks to be on his feet more, and probably not getting to eat as much. Other than this injury slowing him a bit, things appear to be going very well.
Will be interesting to see how he navigates the Alps further down the road.
Definitely worth following this blog every few days.
following this kid everyday, its awesome that he is doing this. the injury is just one of many road blocks i am sure he knew he would eventually encounter

Me too! I'm kinda disappointed it's not... but what it really is is cool too.
the mileage this kid is putting in is actually pretty impressive. Well over a hundred per week with uncertain nutrition, shelter, laundry, etc. Props to the man.
Been keeping up with his blog, apparently hes going to be featured in the NY Post tomorrow. Pretty amazing stuff, I wonder how many years of base training he has behind him to be doing this...esp. without serious injury.
He should parlay this into a travel/comedy show.
been following him everyday and find it quite interesting. he just graduated from Columbia where he ran track/xc. that is where his base comes from.
So wheres that NY Post article? Please post a link.
Anybody else still following Ryan's blog? Day 98 now.
Yep.
Cool stuff, I am a week or so behind, I bing read / catch up every ten days or so. I am about due.
Why europe and not america?
