LetsRun.com's Pre-Meet NCAA Coverage Is Up (Does Centro Have A Stress Fracture?) 6/9/2009 11:01PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
LRC made the rounds around the track today and there was one interesting potential development. A prominent coach told us he'd heard that Oregon's Matt Centrowitz has a stress fracture.

http://www.letsrun.com/2009/ncaa0609.php

Looks like we've got a repeat of the Fernandez rumors prior to World XC. There Fernandez ended up with a stress reaction which didn't prevent him from racing and cost him less than a week of training.

What's the story with Centro's foot? Is this a false rumor? Is it true? I'm sure Wejo and Employee #1 will try to find out.

I'll be busy getting nervous for my Cornell boys.

If memory serves those Fernandez rumors were not rumors, as his coach, and then Fernandez himself went on the record about his stress reaction.

So far the only aspect of this that is rumor, is ALL of it, in that you are not naming the "prominent" coach, and you have clearly not tried to confirm this with any legit sources.

Once again the kind of quality professional journalism once comes to expect from LR.

While it may turn out to be true that Centro has a stress fracture or a stress reaction... You have to followed professional journalism standards by verifying your sources information...and then you erroneously state that Ferndandez situations was "rumors" when it fact GF's situation was OTR - "on the record" (twice).

It makes one wonder if the reason you skipped the press conferences is that you two are not well thought of in the professional environment.

Another vote for you two to raise the level of your ethics and professionalism...

How old are you, 12?

No -- they don't Always turn out to be true.

It is not a credible source unless the "prominent" coach is named.

Evidently the coach himself was not sure enough, or did not have the balls to probably both violate his trust to Centro, and go on record.

But a brojo has no problem posting it.

One thing I can gaurentee you is that when the weejo's are 50 they will look back and shudder at the lack of professionalism and quality they put out in these years. Sure, they'll laugh, but they will also shake and hang their heads in shame...

hmmmmmmn no they won't because the website will be successful because of this. Do you think we want to wait until it is confirmed to hear about this?

Sure you duck ball sucking self might want to cling to the notion that it is false, but the rest of us want every little bit of juice about the NCAA 1500 leaked asap.

For all of your knowledge of professional journalism, you obviously don't know the first rule. Never reveal a source who wishes to remain anonymous. I'll repeat that: Never reveal a source who wishes to remain anonymous. Why would rojo post this news if it wasn't a credible source. The brojos have been running this site for 20 years, and because they don't back stab coaches, they have earned enough respect to have credible sources give out news without the fear their name will be revealed.

Take your shit elsewhere.

For a guy who thinks that Letsrun is crap you sure are on here a lot. This is a fan site, not a journalism site. If you want journalism go start a pro-publica type site for running.

1. The Fernandez injury started as a rumor on the message board before Dave Smith confirmed it.
2. The Brojos running an opinion site. They have never pretended to uphold the values of journalism.
3. Just because they didn't name their source doesn't mean the source isn't credible. Have you ever read a newspaper?

Well they go to various events and file race reports and various other updates that appear to be journalistic. Shouldn't they at least attempt to uphold some values of journalism? If not, then you have to assume everything they post is probably a load of horseshit and should be ignored.

Every day I read multiple articles that are published by the Associated Press that include quotes from a source which wished to remain anonymous. Articles on happenings in the White House, War, etc. They can do it, why can't the brojos?

"and you have clearly not tried to confirm this with any legit sources"

Where do you get that he has not tried to confirm this with any legit sources. At the time he had not yet succeeded but your conclusion is so obviously flawed as to undermine your post and make it primarily a polemic.

One thing to consider - medical aspects of a student are not always things that a source is ALLOWED to divulge. Rojo might be tightroping around that one and what sources have said and how many he has providing info (maybe his rule is to have 3 and he only has 2, but I am pretty sure that you do not know what his internal rules are).

well excuse me, I apologize for not learning the history of the World Wide Web.

My main argument still stands, however, which is that GoDucks is an asshole who doesn't know shit about journalism.
