Go to bed gramps..
That's ok. My prs from 30 years ago are still faster than yours will ever be. Scoreboard, loser.
As an athlete (at CW Post, 1971-75), he ran cross country and track and field and was captain of the 1974 team that finished fourth in the NCAA Division II Championships. He received his master’s of arts degree from Long Island University in 1989.

that pdf file doesn't say anything about pr's, times, or events. it says he was captain of a dII xc team and finished 4th or something like that one year.
The CW Post team that Vin ran on, was noteworthy for it's D2 champion in X-C, Ron Stonich. That's all I remember about CW Post...Ron Stoncich (spelling prob incorrect).
Ron STONITSCH, longtime xc coach at Vassar College and one of the hairiest mofos around, BITD.
This is encouraging. One day I will be old enough that no one will actually be able how to say how good I was or wasn't during my running years. Of course Vin was running before we had the world wide web and I wasn't...
And, this is important, why? So you can feel better about yourself? I can understand why an elite runner may relate better to an elite coach that has been through similar straits, but for team aspects, it's a totally different skill set. Being Captain of his team means more than anything.
Mike Babcock, Mike Tomlin, Roy Williams, Stan Van Gundy, Urban Meyer, Charlie Manuel, a bunch of recent winning coaches there, i think only Manuel touched the professional ranks in his sport.
2:12 marathon in '83
27:56 for 10k in '77 i believe
13:3x for 5k
I think I remember him telling us that he ran in the 3:50's for the 1500m, but I don't know any other PR's.

Don't post drunk.
An old associate grew up near Vin around the same time in high school. If I recall correctly my associate said Vin was about a 4:09 HS miler. That number comes from about 8 years ago...from a guy who was remembering about 30 years before that. Take that for what it's worth.
1973 XC nat's, 171st place

An old friend of mine who ran around 4:40 for the mile in high school, told me a few years later that he'd run 4:29 at a local college, in a workout. He joined the army or some such after that. I happened to see him a couple of years ago with a couple of other runners from back then, and his time at the college had magically improved to 4:13.
There has been no evidence that he ever ran faster than 4:40. It came to light during those earlier years that he was a compulsive thief, along with being prone to great exaggeration.

Lananna was at Post from 71-75 and Ron Stonitsch was gone by then I think. Lananna showed up in fall '71. Stonitsch final track season was June '71.

I have a pretty thorough knowledge of HS track from that era Lananna was not a 4:09 miler in HS.
