Raheema Kadir (?) just behind her.
The LA Marathon owner (also Dodgers) wants to turn this into a more important event--maybe put the elite runners' names on their bibs instead of numbers for starters. They should have guesstimated the times so a woman would possibly have crossed the finish line first. Sounds like that can't happen.
Wheelchair winner having trouble answering questions in English. Interviewer passing it off saying that it's no big deal, he's just tired from the race.
"What a horrible looking city."
After watching this race, I'm not going near LA as long as I live.
A 16 min head start for 100k and they take it out piano style, serves them right to get caught so early. Did they think the men, with 2:08/2:09 people in the field would plan on running 2:12
Why is it the women have been running 2:28-2:32 for the past 25 years, when are we going to see the next full on attempt and not all this BS "racing" where they wait and kick to the finish after a 26 mile tempo run
item #1 why the women shouldn't receive the same prize $ as the men
now we need to give them an even bigger start?
Wesley Korir is going to run 2:08 or better...
Men 63:34 at the half
The point is to promote the event, not who deserves what.
It's a rule that they have to switch to the seasick camera during commercials.
The yellow police tape really adds to the aura.
People the world over are going to be desperate to run on the bailbond and used car lot adorned boulevards of smog filled LA. I think I saw a drug dealer on a bike riding alongside the pack...He wasn't watching the race so much as making sure they weren't trying to set up shop on his turf.
Oh look! We're back to just watching the pack along with a timer...no splits, no mile markers...
20 bucks says someone gets shot. Not necessarily the elites... but someone in the pack is going to have a drug deal go bad... guaranteed.

You're suck a f***ing twat. Have you ever even been to LA?
Wow I am seeing all kinds of negative talk on here regarding the LA Marathon, the city, the owner, the coverage, the spread and other stuff.
First off, remember this was a Divine race. Frank McCourt wants to make this a great marathon, he has hired legend Rod Dixon, put money up and marketed this race better than Divine bothered.
This is year one.
The running community complains about lack of Big media, money etc etc. If this is what the running community wants, 'money and coverage', then the community needs more billionaires to show interest like McCourt.
OH! London has Sir Richard Branson an even richer guy! Perhaps this is the first step in making marathon races big, think and be positive.
Does anyone know who's sponsoring the race?

If it's year one, it's particularly important that the live coverage get off on the right start. When only 30% of the air time is actually devoted to the lead male and female runners, that's a problem.
When 60% of the air time is devoted to thanking the sponsors, that's a problem.
We are negative about the race because it's F***ING LOS ANGELES.
The women are cruising - are they on world record pace? Sure seems very, very fast

Duh
A lot of the negativity is deserved. We could all just lie, that would help, wouldn't it.... Hopefully in the future they'll give some thought about what the camera is seeing beyond the runners, among other things. And the announcing has nowhere to go but up.
