After reading the article linked on the font page (and the quote), isn't Clyde Hart rubbing it in a bit? I mean isn't that conversation between Mr. Wariner and his coach? Made me a bit uncomfortable reading that.

he's an ass
Payback is a bitch. He(Hart) took it in the shorts in many people's opinion as "the greedy coach" who dared to charge a fee for his services. I guess not just anyone can coach "talent." I wonder what the guy that was coaching Wariner will do now?
Hart is right.
Wariner was a jackass.
It's only 1 lap of the track anyway.
is it coach changing season?

You have no idea what you are talking about. The majority of people either bashed Wariner for switching in an olympic year, or just said it made sense financially for Wariner since he would still be doing the same training under Ford. Very few bashed Hart.
And are you on crack? Dared to charge? Every coach charges. Ford Charged....it was about the %, not about charging.
Wonder what Ford will do? Are you serious? You mean besides continue as a coach at Baylor, continue coaching wariner when hart isn't able to come, and take over for Hart when he retires. You mean that?
It was childish of Hart to go public with his comments. Someone there has to be the adult. It obviously isn't Hart.
Coaches are dime a dozen and on sale at Wal Mart.
Wariner was stupid in his training, as was Ford.
Just because you think you worked on something last year, and you did it well last year, doesn't mean you can ignore it next time.
Wariner is among the smartest sprinters out there, and if he's that stupid, along with Ford, that tells you how f***ing dumb most sprinters are.
From that explanation alone, I can come to many conclusions about why their careers don't last very long, they end up doing drugs, or with drugs in their system (How'd that get there?), or being trained by incompetent animals such as Trevor Graham.
And then, once they're done with Sprinting they end up stealing money in the most obvious way, such as Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery did.
Honestly, Sprinters are about the last thing to be relied upon. I'm waiting for the inevitable Usain Bolt break down, either from complete stupidity (Night Club + AIDS or Car Crash), or from being swindled out of millions of dollars (The result of low IQ).
So we go on, and what have we learned? Wariner is among the smartest sprinters, and he's a f***ing idiot.
You just have to let them Texan boys live the lives they live. Whichever sexual rituals they have there to reacquaint an older man to a younger man is their culture and their way and let them be free to do as they please. S&M, sodomy, whatever, as long as it's between consentual adult men, it's none of our business. I just hope to see another GOLD from Jeremy at Berlin this summer.
I love the shotgun approach to making a sound arguement. this is all over the board. You are right on one point: not that Wariner is "stupid" bu that he is an ass for doing what he did. Hart was only really stating the facts. them being, Wariner made a mistake, he was full of himself, and that under Hart he was number one for 4 years. I dont think Hart is bitter but sure of his techniques and gut level understanding of training.
If JW is doping, then he's not very good at it - his body composition isn't that great compared to most Olympians.
Hart is probably the right coach for him, but airing their dirty laundry probably wasn't a wise move.
Being smart as a "sportsman" isn't the same as being being smart. Having good tactics on the track doesn't translate to good strategy in life.

Yea i'm not disagreeing with that. I just hate it when people come back and completely twist the past like the idiot poster above with a clear agenda. Lots of people were bashing Wariner for his move (i wasn't one of them), and it def wasn't this one sided Hart hating like he made it out to be.
It's really even impossible to tell if Ford did a bad job. Wariner did break 44 3 times, and did have his 3rd fastest season ever, and did take 2nd at the olympics. It's very rare that someone keeps getting faster every year. It could have just been bad luck coincidence that it was the year Ford was coaching.
MJ went 43.39, and then took 4 years to improve upon that. It happens. I'm not saying that's evidence of anything, other than that it's evidence that wariner not pr'ing or winning the olympics doens't mean Ford screwed up. The same thing could have just as easily happened under Hart.

You clearly don't know what doping means. Doping is not defined by taking steroids and getting huge. Wariner is a 400 runner. There are many drugs he could take that wouldn't make him look like other olympians. Last time i checked EPO didn't make you huge. Not to mention recovery is more important that getting big...there are plenty of drugs that help you do that without bulking you up.
(I'm not suggesting he does drugs) just saying it's ridiculous to state that his composition has anythign to do with whether he's good at doping (if he was doing it).

EPO - true, but just compare JW to his competition (state-side even) and you'll get my drift.

Totally agree. Who's the adult?
Conspiracy? PCness gone mad? Only black people use drugs? Sociology professors to blame?
Discuss.

Good point. Everyone is so PC they pretend they don't notice the drastic change in Merritt's physique over an 18th month period preceding Beijing. Hell, look at him this season. I ain't sayin, but I'm sayin...
Mrr82,
Wow, swing on Wariner's nuts much?
There were plenty of posters on here criticizing Hart who had the position HE should make the concessions in this dispute because he was ONLY the coach and Wariner was THE ATHLETE! Wariner was another very good recruit when he signed with Baylor out of high school, but Hart made him great. There should have been some loyalty and common sense there that couldn't be swayed by 5% of any number. As far as Ford, it was the ultimate back stabbing move on his mentor. The loyal thing to do, would have been to say no to Wariner because not only was Hart his college coach that probably taught him the majority of what he knows about sprint training at an elite level, but because he was also the one that hand picked him seven years ago to come onto the Baylor staff to possibly be THE ONE that replaces him when he steps out of the college coaching world. Instead, Ford facilitates the betrayal, AND he fails. Nice. The guy not only looks like an idiot, he proves himself to be one. They both got what they deserved, but hey Wariner saved 5%...whatever.
Is Wariner really 6'2'' 145. I know he is fairly lean, but I'm 6'0'' 150 I thought I was skinny.
