Supposed to be available June 2009, I love the Axiom, does anyone know how similar it will be?
Weight?

Weight?
Not very. The Axiom is a pretty high volume shoe that is very flat across the sole. The Raveena is more like the ghost, which is much narrower and has a higher arch more like an asics or adidas shoe. Weight should go down slightly, but i haven't seen the actual numbers so i can't confirm.
well then what is most similar to the axiom?
Nothing, but I suggest trying the Switch 2 if you like the Axiom. The Axiom is dying for a reason. They sort of remind me of running on blocks.
Brooks Launch: Shoe of the Year
until I heard a friend that was wear-testing the Ravenna in San Diego... says the Ravenna's the best shoe he has run in, period, for his foot.
Ravenna has replaced the Axiom in the line. Period.
You know that you can just type "." and not actually spell out the word "period," right?
I've heard good things about the Ravenna but it's not coming out until August now.

Thats funny, I've had them since this past Wednesday... I must have gone through a time warp or something.
It is supposed to replace the Axiom in the Brooks line. Brooks is using a newer forefoot configuration (like in the Ghost) that feels quicker at toe-off. It might only be half an ounce lighter than the Adrenaline, but it will feel lighter and faster.
The Ravenna is the replacement. Its very similar to it. I dont know what the guy who was talking about arch in asics and stuff was saying, but the Ravenna is almost the same as the axiom as far as level of stability and medial post.
Also, I think its funny that people still associate arch-height with brands. -oh, asics has higher arches than adidas- because thats how shoes work....
Brooks Ravenna is already out in my local specialty shop.. picked up a pair and will run in them tomorrow.
Interesting, they are "available" on the Brooks website, but you can't select a size, so what happens if you make the purchase?
The previous link only has the shoe available in and extremely wide size (D). Looks like it is luck of the draw in regards to obtaining them before August.
The Ravenna only comes in a "D" width for Men's and a "B" width for Women's, so I am unsure what you're talking about "extremely wide size". Are you familiar with tech running footwear?
A "D" width is not extremely wide, it is the standard medium width.
Why would you buy from their website? Do a little reserach and you can come up with a better deal. Also, D is medium width for men.
Got a pair too and the felt great on this mornings run. Nice cush and decent support but still responsive enough to get up and go. Not too bulky or stiff like some other Brooks I have tried. Not sure how long they will last but they feel good now....don't love the colors but after week or so that won't matter.
They sure love that hideous red/yellow combination there at Brooks, don't they?
The Axiom, Ravenna, and Ghost are all shi**y shoes. Just get the Defyance.
Actually, you no longer can "do research" and find them at a better deal online (or anywhere else for that matter). all of the major shoe companies have adopted new "MAPP" policies for pricing. Brooks, for example, will not allow any retailer to sell their in-line product more than $10 cheaper than MSRP to protect the integrity of the local running shops. I believe Asics and Mizuno have the same policy...
Actually, the MAPP refers to advertised price. Retailers can sell shoes for any price they wish. However, they cannot advertise, promote, or list a price below a fairly tight range.
