Great record.
(Kinda funny that the foriegner was the weak link though.)
Kip must be very disapointed in himself...
At least they got the record, disapointed they didn't get under 16:00...but maybe there really wasn't anyone else on the team that could run under 4:05 or 4:00...
The 78 Ducks could have run this fast as well...
Time to make this a yearly event!

The michigan team would have left them in the dust however. Probably would have run with them for 3 legs, and then either Willis or Brannen would have dusted Rupp. No knock on Oregon, but it wouldn't have been much of a race come the last lap. Damn shame those two teams couldnt' match up.
Wall should have run Oregons other leg...hindsight sucks...

SHUT UP !!!
The ducks have the better time and the record ! Get over you homer !
Well this wasn't the A team anyhow. Put in Acosta and a lot changes. Also, if it's a "race" maybe you put Wheating on anchor.

Oregon, Please go to the Penn Relays next year. It would be good for Penn and for you.
Sincerely,
Everyone
What then would be Oregon's team at next year's Penn Relays...
Centro
Wheating...
The new 1:47 as a Junior in HS recruit...
???
Yeah ! Take that and get a 2009 IAAF WC medal in the 4 x Mile in Berlin!
or Mac Fleet...already a 4:04 1600 carry
If youre talking of next year yea Centro and Wheating would be on a 4xmile, then you can pick from Acosta, McNamara (who seems to be returning to health running 3:45 tonight in the 1500), the newcomers Elijah Greer (1:48.9 800 tonight), and Mac Fleet. Dont know what Puskedra's mile ability is, but it is possible he could be on it too perhaps.
Amazing that even with the graduation of Rupp, Kiptoo-Biwott, and Wall, this team still has 4 sub-4 guys in Centro, Wheating, Acosta, and McNamara. What has Michael Maag run the mile/1500 in? He seems to be in great shape after his 13:41 5K and will be a Duck next year as a senior.
arkansas 4x1500m of 14:50 from WAY back when is still superior than this new 4x mile record. 3:42 a leg average. And the hogs did it at Penn Relays, not with a 'cry baby coach' complaining about no competition while hosting a home meet to do it after not running at Penn or Drake!! Run at Penn or Drake or pay to fly in the teams like Penn and Drake do!!
Just looked it up, Princeton site says Michael Maag has run 4:00.43 for the mile, so there you go, another guy to add to the mix next year for a 4xmile.
I also understand that Oregon should be getting Ryan Waite back next year possibly, who has apparently been away on a mission. He ran 1:50 800 in HS his senior year. So for the 800 they'd have Wheating 1:45, Greer 1:47, Mac Fleet 1:49, Travis Thompson 1:49, and Ryan Waite 1:50.
Oregon's 16:08 in '62, on cinder track, is probably worth
16:02. Ireland's 15:49 WR has stood almost 24y - can't
some meet arrange a WR attempt? An exhibition race at Kenyan nationals would probably do the job (but $$$$ has to
be on the table, anywhere.. otherwise, 4x1500 or Mile
doesn't mean much)

yeah Penn would have been a real challenge?
Without Rupp next year the ducks could easily win 4Xmile
4X800 and the DMR. Why should they try 2010 nationals are in Eugene and I think Vin is planning on winning that one instead.

Until the Ducks fly back to face the big boys at Penn, they ain't nothin' but chickens. One weekend a year Franklin Field is twice the Track Town Eugene is. This Oregon quartet would have been competitive -- no more -- against teams anchored by much faster guys like Willis and Manzano. Go to Penn, or change the mascot. Bawk!
"yeah Penn would have been a real challenge? "
Don't know, cuz they didn't show!!!
There have been two established relay meets the last 100 years, and the Oregon Twilight meet isn't one of them!!

a) the ducks don't have to face the big boys now...because they'll beat them just fine in a few weeks at ncaas
b) franklin field is fun if you like watching high school 4x4's for hours on end, hayward field is fun if you like watching olympic trials
c) oregon would not have had an issue winning pen, seeing as their first three guys would run away from the rest of everybody, alleviating kicks as an issue, and even if it were an issue, i think its safe to say, rupp's kick is pretty good
Why didn't Acosta run instead of the Kenyan?
