Anybody have a job where you're standing/walking for most of the day? How does it affect your running?

kind of. in the summer time i work 40-45hrs a week where i'm on my feet all but my break which is about 15 minutes a day. it sucks and your legs are f***ing tired/hurt all the time but you can still get up in the miles. i got up to 105. its do-able
Personally, I wear barefoot type shoes at work. The running shoes later in the day feels so much better.
mcdonald's. shit made didn't hurt my running it just made me want to stab a lot of people and take meds.
On my feet probably 90% of the time. Work 7-9 shifts most weeks (about 7 hours a shift). No breaks, 50% of the time in our non-air conditioned kitchen or on the deck in the heat (live in the south). Running between 50-60 mpw right now.
I'm all right most of the time I do get tired when working double shifts. When that happens usually need 10 or 11 hours of sleep. The running helps me work without getting tired, the working makes it hard to run sometimes. I am not fast, so work comes 1st. Coffee is a must.
i am on my back all day
I'm on my feet most of the day. I'm a waiter. The kitchen is in the basement, and the restaurant above is 2 floors of tables. I run to/from work, it's about 6 miles each way.
I usually run up and down the stairs when needed, and hustle as much as I can. Somedays I run home at 2 AM with ove $200 stuffed in my backpack.
I sleep like a rock.

Not now, but I used to be a teacher (at different times both kids and adults) and I was on my feet the vast majority of the day and I still ran. I actually run much less now than then. It's doable. Sitting on your butt all day is much worse.
I used to - and it would feel like I was trashing my legs and I would wonder how the hell I would continue training.
The muscles must be used differently though, because even after a day of work on my feet, with my legs feeling wiped, they'd feel fine once I got running...this was with jobs over the summer when I would be putting in base work for college cross...I was on my feet for most of the 8 hours work shift, but was putting in 100-120 mpw in doubles.
So don't worry about it.
I waitressed and coached athletics full time as summer jobs and they actually seemed better for my running than what I do now (research) which is almost 100% based at a desk. Having said that I never went over 40 hours in either of the standing jobs.
I've worked some summer jobs where I was on my feet most of the day. My legs usually felt bad at work, but If I was able to go home and relax for awhile before I ran I would usually feel pretty good. I don't think it made too much of a difference. Heck, it may even be preferable to sitting all day.
