looks like no redshirt for sure. also looks like rupp won't be running the 4 x mile (unless he plans to double back after a 10K? which may be possible if he is only going for the regional standard) and aj might not as well.

i guess if he is doing outdoors and plans to be ready in the summer for worlds, he would be on the conservative side of racing right now. wonder if he'll go for a fast 5K at cardinal or just basically do the bare minimum through outdoors and then try to get a fast race in europe before or after usa's.
that would be the smart way to do it, would be nice to see him go for a time pretty soon though.
There doesn't appear to be a 10k on the meet schedule. There is no DMR either, but I assume that is what is listed as exhibition event.

As far as the 10,000 meters is concerned, I'm sure he will just try and qualify and then just try to win hen needed.
Who knows with the 5,000 meters though. It would probably benefit him for the European summer to pop off a great one at home first.

"hen" needed?

Sorry, brother.
Does anybody know how many races Rupp will have run by years end. Oregon certainly is getting their money's worth whoring this phenom out!
Why is China having those two run at UO ? Mt Sac would be a better race for them this weekend. And don't tell me they have to be on campus to study, we know they don't have any academics at UO.
Am I correct to assume that both Rupp (5000m/10000m) and Wheating (800m) have the A standard already? Does Rupp's 13:18 indoors count for the outdoor standard? I'd like to see Wheating be more aggressive early in the 800m outdoors and take some serious shots at the 1500m when he's in shape. Will Wheating go to Europe prior to World's regardless of whether he qualifies?

Rupp still needs to run at least under the NCAA automatic qualifying standard of 28 minutes, 45 seconds in the 10,000. He plans to do that at the Oregon Relays the weekend after next with a 1500 or 5000 scheduled for this weekend. I doubt if he is going to be running all out for these races as he would want to peak later.
Why does Rupp need an NCAA qualifying time? Doesn't his 10K times from last years trials and OG count?

Apparently not.

It looks like some people got their stories crossed. AJ Acosta may redshirt due to a foot injury he sustained last fall.
so possibly wheating and rupp could race eachother this week over 1500.
per radio interview today, Rupp will run the 5000 at the Oregon-UCLA meet this weekend.
He mentioned Wheating is a "possible" at the press conference yesterday.
"highly likely" that Wheating will run the 800 per Ken Goe - Oregonian

well it'll be a jog for rupp these next couple weeks, which is good for him in the long run this season. plus it will help build some anticipation for the hayward field fans.
be interesting to see if wheating doubles this weekend since it sounds like he wants too, that may be just what he needs. hope to see him get in a good fast 1500 this year.
Wheating will run the Oregon twilight 1500 like last year.
he will run 3:37.
