You forgot about the pause. It's much more difficult if you lower the bar and pause for at least 1/2 second. Also, slowly lowering the bar (working the negative), makes the exercise harder. So when someone states that they bench press their weight 10 times, this will mean different things for different people.

I am seen doing push ups and sometimes pullups at work.
People (old high school stars) calim they can do an obscene number of pull ups and push ups. almost all of them do the fast, half bent arm push up and pull up.
the correct way. It's called a "dead hang", where the elbows lock.
Same with the push up. The elbows should lock.
