Seems that he is peaking at the right time,
"Ryan just crushed his workout... I'm speechless. First mile of an 8 mile tempo was 4:18. 5k under 14. Video will be up Monday"

I hope the first mile was downhill because unless he ran that pace for the whole thing it isn't that great of a workout. The point of a tempo is to stay steady. For a guy in sub 1 hour HM shape, his 8 mile tempos should be at about 4:25-4:30 pace, right?
its a big improvement on gasparilla, also it was at altitude
and cox said "He was going off feel & trying to bang up his legs a bit b4 Boston"
Here's hoping josh can make a decent video. his stuff from trials was less than desirable. hoping RW had more to do with it .. we shall see
Hope he can win Boston. If he does, guarantee you it will be big news in the major media outlets.

So do I. Unfortunately, I think he'll face the same problem that he had in the months before the OG: a dearth of races. Not everybody needs the conditioning that races provide, but he seems to.
Josh Cox says on Facebook, re. total 8M time:
"38:08... then he ran 8 300 meter hill sprints... then he ran another two miles...
HE. IS. READY.
Oh and it was at 4500 ft."
Looks good, all in all. I figure he needs to be in that kind of shape to challenge for the win.
I heard it was up hill for the first 8 miles
just about wish I wasn't racing so I could watch him if he wins it. Best wishes to Ryan Hall, a champion!
I hope that Ryan Hall is the second American and that he takes his redneck beatdown like a man.
Lets see. Race starts at 10 am. That's 7 am pac time plus 2 hours 10 min equals 9:10. I leave for work at 9:15. Perfect, that leaves 5 min to celebrate if Hall wins.
In 2006, the race was set up for Meb to win. It didn't happen. In 2007 the race was set up for Deena to win. It didn't happen. In 2008 John Hancock decided not to hype an American because of the Olympic Trials. In 2009 they have made the decision to hype both Hall and Goucher. History tells us, it won't happen.
You are truly scary. Do you wear a mask?
So many questions:
1) why is Josh Cox reporting this workout for another runner?
2) why is Josh Cox reporting any workout on Twitter, Facebook and taking video?
3) why will it take until Mon to post a video? If you have so much free time that you are videoing other people and then creaming about them on networking sites ... why can't you post the stuff in 15 min.?
4) a first 5k under 14:00 means sub-4:30 first three miles and ... the last 5 miles at 4:56.
Not impressive, not the way to train either.
Hall for the win in 2.07:42.
The crowds love him - he becomes an overnight Boston icon.
I remain anonymous and obscure.

It is always funny when LetsRun idiots think they know better than world class runners how to train.

I was just about to comment on that.

I just think its funny you guys are trying to justify this whole thing..it is what it is...if he did it then great..if not then great..its ryan hall..he is fast..so dont even try to say he shouldnt do this or that..u cats have no idea..saying its not the way to train? I highly doubt you are anywhere near him in anyway...plus there is no ONE way to train...come on guys seriously...anyone who is trying to put down anyone and saying oh you are just some 16 min 5ker..I doubt you are much better..if any..cheers and goodnight
