First thread I remember reading was titled "Letsrun survey-Washing you hands": http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?board=1&id=2010262&thread=2009008 It was so stupid, so mindless, so entertaining.... I was hooked. |

I remember starting off reading Canova, malmo, JK, etc. Trying to be a student of the sport. But, over time, I lost interest in the running related threads and the serious content; now most of the threads I read are dedicated to either gay bashing or pooping. |

the opening of that thread kicked ass, and it continued to kick ass. |

The graphic looks like it was designed by a grade school boy or girl. The term "Let's Run" sounds super corny and dorky. As in, "Hey boys and girls, let's all run!!!" I remember the first time I came to this site I assumed, based on the graphics and name, that it was for kids or dorks. I guess only the latter is true. The first time my wife looked over my shoulder and saw me on this site, she laughed out loud because she thought the logo and name were so corny sounding. I was embarassed and had to explain to her that it was a real running site. Think about the very first time you heard the name and saw the graphic. I'll bet you thought the same thing. |

My first impression of letsrun was a friend sending me a link about throwing sh!t off of buildings. It was a 2-3 page thread and it was quite disgusting. I thought that letsrun was a regional thing at first. This must have been back in 2004 or so. |

I remember it well. I was pissed off that collegerunning.com had shut down, as I had become quite fond of that message board circa 2000. When that site went down I started googling the term "running message board" and LetsRun popped up. I found it to be filled with the same wonderful trash talk as collegerunning.com, but with a lot more running history dispersed throughout the threads. And here I am, almost 9 years and many screen names later . . . |

first thread I read was "you might be a runner if..." thats how I found letsrun |

Found it in a link from RW where Wejo was interviewed after running a track 10k in Montreal. Since then his running has come to an end as has his progression at mastering basic English and grammar. |

I think I came across letsrun when I was in high school surfing the internet for running web sites. I only saw the front page and immediately left. The bright colored logo and hard to read text was not appealing. I really thought it was for recreational runners. I started with Yahoo chat's running chatroom back when chatrooms had somewhat normal people. Then I posted on the highschoolrunner.com (Runner's World's high school training/racing web site) forums. That site went away when I got to college. One day my freshman year I heard some people on my team talking about letsrun. So I checked it out and visited the message board. I was appalled and didn't visit too often, but must have periodically come back to slowly develop an addiction. My sophomore year of college I was injured, so while I would have been at practice I was in my dorm. Since I was away from my teammates I had no one to talk about running with and I couldn't run I had to get my "fix" on the internet. So I ended up here a lot. I've learned a lot from this site and it's what got me into the professional side of the sport. I didn't know who anyone was before I kept seeing threads with Ritz, etc. in the title. Since I wanted to know who everyone was talking about on letsrun, I started to follow the sport. |

I thought the front page was hard to read (too cluttered) and the forum layout was out of date. I've since come to like both because I can quickly take in a lot of information. |

Can't even remember what the first thing was that I read. But I keep coming back 'cause the threads here resemble discussions I've had with groups on various long runs: **Poop jokes **Half-baked ideas **Honest questions **One or two good responses, lots of repetition here **Bragging about something **People making fun of each other. All in all, this kind of talk is largely why I continue to run. |

The first thread I read was on girls wearing spankies and it had pics. I've been hooked ever since. |

I saw one of the Bros at the '96 Mt.SAC relays with a singlet the said LetsRun.com. And figured it was some dumb thing on this seldom used internet thing. Who knew he was on to something. |

My first impression was, "Wow, this is better than Track and Field News - and it's free!" I came to the site for about a year to check race results and read articles before I decided to take a sustained look at the vast wasteland of the message board. It was several more months after that before I looked much at threads that didn't have to do with running. |

I thought it was what it still is---a forum loaded with immature types with too much time on their hands. |

Frank and malmo wars, which spread all over the internet, ca. 2000-2002. Eventually I think FCC and Homeland Security even got involved. TnFmedia.com pulled the plug Mervs blew up (ground zero of Frank and malmo wars) T&F News ran their place with an iron fist, heavily moderated Runnersworld hahahaha are you kidding! First impression, okay this is pretty hokey--all this self referencing by wejo, rojo, JK and a few other insiders, but up to date info (inside scoop) on running. All those typos and errors on the front page. Many of the same characters from the first two messages boards listed above were here. Letsrun rocked and sucked at the same time (and it's still that way). Meanwhile, Frank and malmo were in the process of ripping each other's lungs out and that was kind of entertaining. We know who won out on that one. Recall a huge blow out during and following 2000 election, combined with weeks of fights about global warming, but everyone came together again for 2000 NCAA XC action. |

Great website but needs a nice dark look overall. M-audio.com is dark. |
