He was great during a 10 yr stretech from 86-96. Injuries cut his career short. You never really heard from him after 97. Does he still live in Boulder. Does he coach at all like Jonsey? I know he got divorced from Joy Rochester awhile back.

two words: east africa. I remember marveling over his 27:08...
He married one of my high school friends - an intelligent woman and a very good writer who posts here from time to time.
I believe they have a young child, and indeed I hope they are doing well.

Is he Mr. Masterbooner?
Also, wasn't he coaching some Army elite program?
His spouse (if they are still together) has posted with the use of her own name - Dagny Barrios.
I have read a few of her running publications and she writes in a style befitting a Medill grad at Northwestern - not surprising given her obvious intelligence when I knew her. A nice person, too.
Barrios presents an interesting claim to being the best long distance runner from the Western hemisphere. Maybe it is arguable, but certainly he has a plausible claim to the title.
It would be interesting to hear of an accurate update.
Divoriced. Coaching. Aging.
Is he not employed by SPIRA for Marketing and Promotions/Testimonials?
bump
I saw him in Boulder, CO in late-2008; he gained quite a bit of weight.
I talked to him today while picking up my packet for the 5k starting at the Quad Cities marathon. As always seemed like a great guy. Talked to him about running in college and running Steamboat back in the 80's.

Why you stalking?
A 10 year career is about right for most, particularly when you consider the 10 years you chose as his career.

A 10 year career is way longer than most runners
