they certainly have a good shot, if henderson gets back up to around 25ppg they are an easy final four team

what are you talking about? they have pitt in their bracket. if they play pitt they are done.
duke is a bunch of pansies...i played against scheyer in HS and he was so soft. i mean i didn't go up against him (i was bench player, i sucked) but my teammate owned him.
DaJuan Blair, on the other hand, is not soft. anything but.
True the ACC tournament MVP is real soft. How many times did you score 30pts in D-I college?
You guys forget... Duke only lost LAST year to Pitt on a weak step-back 3 at the buzzer, with this years team we have much better winning change (See the arrival of E-MAIL our savior)
it's only college. there's no money in it for the players. only china/nike make any money from college b-ball.
I don't see how anyone can actually like Duke. How is that possible? As for their hopes for success in the tournament, I would be surprised if they made the Final Four. It is possible, though.
What is not to like? The kids are true student athletes. They go to class, graduate, and have two academic All Americans on the team. They stay out of trouble, are 18-22 year old athletes - unlike the teams that fill up on JUCO's. For example, when they played FSU this weekend, FSU had three 23 year old players in the starting line up. One of those 23 year old was only a sophomore and they also start a 21 year old freshman. In contrast, Redick, who has already been out of school 3 years is still only 24 years old.
Take their next opponent - Binghamton. Players have been charged with drug possession and selling. Another player beat a fellow student so badly that he was and may still be in a coma. The jerk then flees to Serbia rather than face the consequences. One player was kicked off of UTEP, yet Binghamton takes him. Another kid that signed with Syracuse, but couldn't qualify academically - Binghamton takes him anyway. Now, the associate AD has been charged with verbal/physical sexual harassment of a fellow employee.
Duke is the type of program you want your kid to be affliated with. I hope Duke is able to have a good run in the tournament.
Duke is full of rich losers that are full of themselves

ok, well then MSU should easily beat PITT this year as well, i mean MSU returned all their starters (minus neitzel, who ended up hurting their team) and they beat pitt in the tourney last year. so should they meet in the final, msu would win??
no way. oh, and to the guy saying how many points i scored in college--zero. my friend who dominated schyer--not much. still doesn't change the fact that he's soft. would you say jj reddick was a hardass for scoring 30+ at times?
also, i'm probably more athletic than you. so don't insult me.
Congratulations, you just proved that some programs have dumber people than others. Obviously Duke is a good school that has a good basketball program, I never argued against that. However, it seems as if they are completely full of themselves. Also, they get all the calls and are just a tough team to like. None of this is to knock their academic reputation, but I just like watching Duke lose.
scheyer is a pretty good player, if he's hot, duke goes a long way.
your friend dominated scheyer in high school, i beat german fernandez in 2nd grade.. it doesn't matter now does it?
i wasn't insulting you, just asking how you did in college..
Lovin the hate. Keeeeeep on talkin when were cutting down the nets ill be back!
debunker - Duke is hardly full of rich losers. There are truly bright people there, found in a concentration much greater than most state universities and on par with the top 7 or 8 universities in the nation. Take away the revenue sport athletes and under-represented minority admits, and frankly the remainder of the student body is a raft of 4.0 GPA 2340 SAT types. These folks by any measure are very, very bright people. And many go on to to do very impressive things. And the continued influx of international students at the very top schools like Duke means the student bodies will continue to be very, very good.
My daughter goes to what is considered the best high school in the nation - they have far, far more National Merit Finalists than any other school in the country - it is a well known magnet school in the DC area, and the 20-25 students that go to Duke there each year are incredibly bright - above valedictorian level at most high schools, even good ones. We can benchmark Duke admits with those that get in other schools - including Harvard, Yale and Princeton - the parents see the data in a form without individual attribution - and your rich loser comment is just clearly empirically and demonstrably wrong. Duke is really, really difficult to get into. Data matters.
At my own firm (a very well known entity) we really like Duke undergrads if we can get them. They by and large are peel the paint off the walls intelligent, and a great deal compared to MBA's, who cost more and are often less trainable.
This is of course why so many dislike Duke - this kind of academic level of achievement does not square with so many other schools at the top level of performance.
By the way, Duke does have its share of problem athletes. But the above poster is right to suggest that they are in no way a bandit program, and in fact, most of their student athletes are very much bona fide students. This is clearly not the case at any number of athletic factories (choose your SEC school leaving out Vanderbilt, by way of example), where many of the athletes frankly are not sufficiently qualified to do college work, and ply their time in majors that are designed to warehouse them to play sports (e.g., recreation, family life, etc.).
And witness Florida State, which is an academic mismatch to most of the ACC. Is anyone surprised that school employees assisted in academic cheating?
If you have individual dislikes of Duke players, or somehow can concoct an assertion that Coach K is not a great coach, fine. But Duke is clearly not a school for rich losers.
The second one, what a great team. Could be us if everyone sticks around next year.

Good post. I'm not a Duke fan, but I respect Duke a lot.
Florida State - the athletes are apparently so stupid that they had a cheating scandal even though the majors the athletes can take are so completely ridiculous that it is almost beyond comprehension that anyone with an IQ above the severely retarded level would have to cheat to pass these classes. FSU is a joke and exhibit A in what's wrong with collegiate athletics.
Duke has solid momentum going into the tourney, unlike previous years. As usual, they will have trouble with a team with a deep frontcourt and good perimeter defense. Elite 8/Final 4 is a better possibility this year than last year, when they were a #2 but had trouble in their first game and lost in the second. Gerald Henderson is the best pro prospect from Duke in recent years.
I thought I saw an article on espn.com recently that said Florida State had a 100% graduation rate within 6 years for its men's basketball team. Say what you want about how they are getting their degrees (joke majors, etc...) but I'd say that's better than the schools that probably also cheat and still have rates in the 10% range.
To be fair, there is a lot of controversy as to whether Binghamton has sold out its standards in recent years to achieve modest success as a D1 basketball program, but they currently can boast of a 100% graduation rate for the basketball program, something very few schools, Duke included, can match.
The reason Duke has such high graduation numbers is because they all get pushed through the same BS program. Seriously, look it up, over 75% of Duke players for the last 10+ years have been doing the same sociology major. The reason they're graduating with honors and great GPA's is because they're in a program that was cherry picked for the basketball team to make sure they make it through the schools rigorous academics.
