Yes the Ducks could possibly win every event from 800 thru the 5k, which would include......800,mile, 3k and 5k as well as winning the dmr.

more realistically they get top 3 points in all and accumulate approx 45pts in the process.

If you read my original post more carefully you would see that I already mentioned that Ulrey had DECLARED in both the mile and 3K. That wasn't speculation, which is why I said he had declared.

It's pretty funny when you get the speeeling and grandmar poleece on here along with the reading comprehension neighborhood watch, and then they get caught in their own webs.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Arizona State Sun Devils (a team in the PAC-10 where indoor track is considered a nuisance, an unnecessary bore) were to win it again. BTW, last year Arizona State won BOTH the mens and womens NCAA indoor championships.

they probably have a better shot at winning the DMR with Wheating running he anchor cuz I don't see Rupp out-kicking more than two guys, so he probably won't win the 3k either but he should win the 5k for sure. wheating is the best bet for the 8. i still think the oregon gets beat in the DMR regardless of who they run and an oregon athlete won't win the mile or the 3k im calling and a lot would agree wit dat shit

This is going to look like an old fashioned duel in the distance events between Arkansas and Oregon. Aside from Arkansas' jumps and Oregon's hep athlete, the 800-5k looks like its going to be the deciding factor. The question is, will A&M be up there with their jumps and sprints boys? Or is 4-5 events just not enough to rely on this year

They have a legit shot at every distance. Mile and DMR are up for grabs but Rupp should take the double victory and wheating is looking good for the 800.

In the mile Centro is coming on strong and has as good a kick as probably anyone in it. Ulrey is my favorite, but he has a lot of duties this weekend so he can't be on for everything.

DMR is a big unknown, there best chance is probably wheating on anchor but nobody else is clearly better than Rupp for 1600 right now except Ulrey. In fact I think I'd put wheating on the 800 since he can do 3+ seconds better than the next duck there, but perhaps only a second or 2 more over 1600.

I would say that DMR & 5K is 2 events, but DMR - 5K suggests everything from the dmr to the 5k.

I don't really consider the DMR a distance, but just an event, so throwing it at the beginning makes perfect sense to me.

Amazing that there are just some that live on this board looking for insignificant flaws that others make instead of their own. What a life.

Now, to the topic at hand. If Oregon wins every event "from DMR - 5K" I think they'll deserve their own holiday. Sammy Chelanga and some Arkansas fellas will have their say in that however.

Shane Knoll, Dorian Ulrey, David McCarthy, Hayden McLaren and Lee Emanuel may spoil Oregon's Matthew Centrowitz and Andrew Acosta's chance winning the mile.

On paper all of these guys should beat Centrowitz. Aj was the last guy in at 4:00 so he shouldn't be a contenter unless something weird happens.

Centrowitz though is right in there with the times and has a very strong finish. He has won his last two races with decent competition on his kick.

Ulrey for me is the favorite. In fact even if Rupp, Wheating and Fernandez were in the mile I'd still pick Ulrey as the favorite. Yes German picked him off in an early season meet, but Ulrey did the work and wasn't sharp yet. He ran his 3:57 early, and it was on a banked 200 track in comparison to most of the other 3:57's that were posted later on oversized tracks.

I think Ulrey is capable of running 3:55 or better now if he had too (only Fernandez and possibly Rupp and Wheating could do that) but I also think he has a strong finish if the pace goes slower.

But the fact that Centro does have a shot at winning (along with the other ducks in all the distance events) is why I mentioned it. I fully don't expect them to win all of them, but having a real shot is pretty remarkable. Can't be too often that a team is actually the favorite in 2 or 3 and still has a shot at the other couple.

I imagine arkansas has been in the place in the past, but now that the Pac-10 is taking indoors more seriously it makes it even more impressive.

It will be hot and humid as always in Texas once again as it was for nationals in 2004.

The air conditioning has already been turned off for the teams coming in from the Northwest by the A&M staff.

Oregon won't be able to handle the heat and humidity, unless Phil Knight made the track team those special cooling vests like he did for the football program?

The Aggies will be serving "Fried Duck" Platters at 8:00pm after the 4 x 400 relay in a tailgate party in the parking lot.
