Ask Rachael Umberger how fast times as a freshman in high school worked out for her in the long run.

Dear Shane,
You need a life. BAD.
I ran 2:10 as a freshman girls and it worked out for me.
Always an asshole in every bunch. What evered happened to someone simply recognizing a fast time and saying congrats? On deck are the other haters who will dig through records upon records and inform us of how many other girls have run <2:10 as a freshman & that girls in Africa are a dime a dozen running this fast & her time really blows & how that time wouldn't even qualify her for ncaa's etc etc etcAnything I'm forgetting?

The name isn't Shane. Not even close.
And the point of my comment was that I'm not impressed because I've seen many fast freshman girls not improve during high school; some even get slower.
OK, cool. Just so I have this clear:1. Girl runs an exceptionally fast time.2. She happens to be a freshman (even the more impressive).3. If she never runs another race in her life, it's still an impressive time.4. You're not impressed because many HS girls don't run faster in subsequent years.Just want to confirm you're an idiot before I draw any conclusions.

Smith is a stud, won millrose the last 2 years. But let me take on the roll of the prick floating around this thread.....I'm not that impressed with Jillian's record time either as I've seen a lot of girls not progress at all after high school.

Well, first I've seen fast 800 times from freshman girls. Nothing new there.
And second, I've seen them fizzle out and not even run in college. I'd be more impressed with a senior that runs 2:08 having run 2:20 as a freshman. That shows steady improvement and the likelihood that she'll continue to improve in college. You disagree with my opinion, fine; but that hardly makes me a moron.
So a girl breaks a record that's stood for 26 years in a fairly competitive state and that's not impressive to you? Taking that 1 step further, no freshmen in the history of record keeping in NJ has EVER run that fast, still not 'impressive'. Lets put you in charge for a minute and what would the adjective be that you would use to describe this performance?

In charge? What the hell are you talking about?
It's impressive that she took out a 26 year old record, yes. But as a coach, I'd be guardedly optimistic due to the 3 Bs: Boobs, butts and boyfriends. It happens and it happens often. Maybe unimpressed isn't the correct word. But until I saw some consistent improvement, I wouldn't be doing backflips.
I'm just curious to hear what makes guys like you tick (assuming you're a dude). You said you weren't 'impressed' and I'm simply asking what is the word you would use to describe the fastest 800m time run by a freshman in the history of the state and breaking a 26 yr old record. No one is saying she's going to be an olympic medalist, the OP was simply saying good on ya for running a fast time.

I've been coaching at a D2 school for nearly 10 years and haven't had one girl go <2:10 indoors for the 800. Color me impressed.

And I'm just saying, in the short term, impressive. But in the long term, it doesn't necessarily mean anything.
Thank you, master of the obvious.

now now girls - handbags at 10 paces please
You're such a tool, Steve Gonzalez.
I think what Former Bomber is implying is that if the thread was entitled "GIRL Runs 2:10 800m" he would have nothing to say as that is an impressive time. Nobody has refuted the impressiveness. The OP's use of the word "Freshman" coupled with exclamation marks implies that it is especially impressive because she is young, and that is where the naysayers come in.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
